Finally one day, the Clipboard sharing feature between guest and host is not available, whether it's a VMware-brought private VMware tools or Open-vm-tools (now VMware is officially recommended to install an open source version of Vmtools from the operating system, " VMware recommends using the Open VM Tools redistributed by the operating system vendors. " ) have been deleted countless times, invalid. Surf the internet for a long time, check the VMware official forum and stack exchange and so on have not found a good solution.

Today found a post, found that the original Ubuntu14.04 LTS has a special series of packages called "open-vm-tools-lts-trusty-*", Ubuntu14.04 lts codename is Trusty Tahr, I don't think there's any reason for the authorities to have two duplicate packages at the same time, and this package with the Lts-trusty suffix must have a reason to exist.

So

sudo vmware-uninstall-tools.pl

sudo apt-get purge open-vm-tools*

Then

sudo Install open-vm-tools-lts-trusty-dkms open-vm-tools-lts-trusty-desktop open-vm-toolbox-lts-trusty

Then just fine, clipboard sharing is finally restored.

By the way, another problem: directly drag and drop the copy file (drag and drop) sometimes error, Ubuntu will be prompted to find the "//tmp/vmwarednd/xxxxx" under the file, in fact, the file has been copied into the "/tmp/vmwarednd/ XXXXX ", manually to copy it over the line. Error alert more than a "/" number, doubt the problem is here, it should be a bug.
