VMware12 CentOS 7 Installation Tutorial

CentOS 7 DVD installation CD (search for CentOS on Baidu to find the official homepage);
VMware Workstation 12 Pro and above software;

Start the VMware Workstation 12 Pro program, and in the main VMware Workstation window that pops up, click the menu "File-> New Virtual Machine" to create a new virtual machine;


   
In the pop-up "Welcome to the New Virtual Machine Wizard" window, select the "Typical" option, and then click the "Next" button to enter the next step;


   
In the pop-up "Install Guest Operating System" window, select the "Installer CD Image File (iso) (M)" option, and then click the "Browse" button to select the storage path for the CentOS 7 DVD. After setting the storage path of the CentOS ISO file, click the "Next" button to enter the next step;

   
 

In the "Name Virtual Machine" window that pops up, fill in the virtual machine name and the location where the virtual machine files are stored, and then click the "Next" button to enter the next step;


   
In the pop-up "Specify Disk Capacity" window, set the "Maximum Disk Size" to 60.0GB, select the "Store virtual disk as a single file" option, and then click the "Next" button to enter the next step;

   
 

In the pop-up "Ready to create a virtual machine" window, click the "Custom Hardware" button;

   
 

In the pop-up "Hardware Configuration" window, select the "Memory" item in the list on the left, and then set the memory size to 2GB on the right.

   
 

Select the "Processor" item in the list on the left side of the "Hardware Configuration" window, and then set the "Number of cores per processor" to 4 (2 for dual-core CPUs) in the configuration on the right, and check "Virtual Intel VT -x / EPT or AMD-V / RVI (V) "and" Virtualized CPU Performance Counters "checkboxes;

   
 

Select "Network Adapters" in the list on the left side of the "Hardware Configuration" window, and in the configuration on the right side, select "Bridge Mode (B): Connect directly to the physical network" (make the virtual machine and host in the same network segment). After the hardware configuration is complete, click the "Close" button to close the hardware configuration window;

   
 

Click the "Finish" button in the "Equipped to create a virtual machine" window to end the virtual machine creation wizard;

   
 

When the virtual machine is started for the first time, an incorrect prompt "Keyboard Hook Timeout Value" may pop up. Click the "OK" button in the message box directly, and VMware will update this value;


   
If there is a removable device in the system, when the CentOS virtual machine starts, VMware will give a prompt box for the connection method of the removable device, directly check the "Don't show the connection", and click the "OK" button to continue running the virtual machine;

   
 

In the startup interface for installing CentOS 7, select "Install CentOS 7" and press Enter (the button will take effect after clicking the console interface, but the mouse will disappear, you can press Ctrl + Alt to make the mouse reappear);

   
 

In the installation prompt interface, directly press the "Enter" key to start the installation;

   
 

After waiting for the console to print a bunch of output information, the graphical CentOS 7 welcome interface appears. Select "Chinese" in the list on the left side of the interface (you can also choose a language you are familiar with), and then click the "Continue" button to go to the next step;


   
   
In the "Installation Information Summary" interface, click "Installation Location" under the system to open the installation target location configuration (you can customize the disk partition here, if you do not need to customize the partition and select the installation disk, you can use the default configuration here) ;

   
 

In the "Installation destination" interface, select "I want to configure partition", and then click the "Finish" button in the upper left corner to enter the manual partition interface;

   
 

In the "Manual Partition" interface, click "Click here to automatically create them" to start customizing disk partitions;


   
Select "/" under "New CentOS 7 Installation" in the "Manual Partition" interface, and then click the "Minus" button below to delete it. In the same way, delete "/ home" in the list. Keep only "/ boot" (boot partition, usually 1GB) and "swap" (swap partition (virtual memory), usually equal to memory size);

   
   
 

Click the "Plus" button in "Manual Partition" to add a new partition;


   
In the pop-up "Add new mount point" window, click the drop-down list and select the mount point as "/ home" (here you can manually add the mount point, such as: / usr, / usr / local, etc.), set The expected capacity is 20GB, and then click the "Add Mount Point" button to confirm the addition of the mount point;

   
 

Click the "Plus" button again, in the pop-up "Add New Mount Point" window, select the mount point as "/" and set the desired capacity to 100GB (only greater than the available space, it will be calculated to occupy as much as possible available Space size), and then click the "Add Mount Point" button to confirm adding the mount point;

   
   
 

After adding the mount point of the root directory, you will still find that there is free space left in the "Manual Partition" interface, you can ignore this value, basically all the space has been used up;

   
 

Click the "Finish" button in the upper left corner of the "Manual Partition" interface to end the manual partition operation;

   
 

In the pop-up "Change Summary" window, click the "Accept Changes" button to confirm the changes take effect;


   
Click "Software Selection" in the "Installation Information Summary" interface to open the CentOS software selection interface;

   
 

In the "Software Selection" interface, select "GNOME Desktop" and check all the additional options on the right, and then click the "Finish" button in the upper left corner to complete the software selection (CentOS 7 defaults to a minimal installation without a graphical interface) ;

   
 

Click the "Start Installation" button in the "Installation Information Summary" interface to start installing CentOS 7;

   
 

In the "Configuration" interface that appears (CentOS installation is in progress at this time), click "ROOT password" to open the ROOT account password setting interface;

   
 

In the "ROOT Password" interface, fill in the Root password and confirm the password (must be the same), and then click the "Finish" button in the upper left corner to complete the setting of the ROOT account password;

   
 

Click "Create User" in the "Configuration" interface to open the "Create User" interface;

   
 

In the "Create User" interface, fill in the user account name and password and confirm the password (preferably do not check "This user as an administrator", the administrator only needs to ROOT), and then click the "Finish" button in the upper left corner to complete User creation

   
 

After waiting for CentOS 7 to be installed, click the "Restart" button in the interface to restart CentOS 7;


   
When CentOS 7 starts for the first time, the "Initial Settings" interface will appear. Click "LICENSE INFORMATION" to enter the license information configuration interface;

   
 

In the "License Information Configuration" interface, check "I agree to the license agreement", and then click the Finish button in the upper left corner to complete the license information configuration;

   
 

After returning to the "Initial Settings" screen, you will see the words "License Accepted". Click the "Finish Configuration" button to end the initial configuration;

   
 

In the user login interface, click the user name (click "not listed" to log in with another user name, such as: ROOT), then enter the login password and click the "Login" button to log in to the system;


   
   
In the "Welcome" interface that appears, select the language in the list as "Chinese", and then click the "Forward" button in the upper right corner to enter the next step;

   
 

In the "Input" interface that appears, you can select the default input method. Keep the default here, and click the "Forward" button directly to enter the next step;

   
 

In the "Privacy" interface that appears, you can turn location services on or off. Keep the default here, and click the "Forward" button directly to enter the next step;

   
 

In the “Online Account” interface that appears, you can set a login account for the cloud platform. If you do n’t have or do n’t want to use it, you can directly click the “Skip” button to go to the next step;

   
 

In the "Ready" interface that appears, click the "Start using CentOS Linux (S)" button to enter the CentOS system;

   
 

Click the VMware Workstation menu "Virtual Machine-> Settings" to open the virtual machine settings window;

   
 

In the pop-up virtual machine settings window, select "CD / DVD (IDE)" in the hardware list, and in the configuration on the right, remove the check mark in front of "Connect at startup" and select "Use physical drive". (To prevent the CentOS installation disk from loading automatically after system startup) After configuration, click the OK button to complete the hardware configuration;
