The local security policy, which is brought in by Windows XP systems, is a good system security management tool that allows for a highly secure system login with a reasonable set of user accounts, passwords, and security options through the local security policy.
In order to prevent others from entering the computer repeatedly use guessing password way to log in, we can lock invalid login, so that when the number of password input error reached the set number, it will lock the account, and in a certain period of time can no longer log in to the account.
Step 1th: In Control Panel, click the Performance and maintenance-Administrative Tools link, and then double-click the Local Security Policy icon to open the Local Security Settings window.
Step 2nd: In the list on the left side of the window, click Security Settings Account policy account lockout policy, and then on the right side of the window, locate the Account lockout threshold list item, as shown in Figure 1.
Step 3rd: Double-click the list item, and then set the number of invalid logins in the pop-up Properties dialog box. This value is typically set to "3", as shown in Figure 2.
Step 4th: Click OK to display the recommended Value Changes dialog box, which automatically sets the time for the account lockout time and reset account lockout counter to "30" minutes.
Step 5th: Click the OK button, and then close the Local Security Settings window.
