The original Article Improved Developer Experience, Interoperability, and Scalability on Windows Azure was selected from the Windows Azure team blog, which was completed by the MSDN Chinese website.

Today, we have released several updates to Windows Azure, which improve ease of use, interoperability, and overall value.

Key points:

  • New developer experience and enhanced interoperability-Pair. NET, Java, and Node. access to the js Windows Azure library can now be obtained through the Apache 2 open source license and hosted on GitHub, which is a Node. the new Windows Azure SDK of js makes Windows Azure A first-class development environment for Node applications, the limited preview of Windows Azure's Apache Hadoop-based service allows Hadoop applications to be deployed in just a few hours, without several days.
  • More easily hands-on and simplified subscription Management-The improved development center for multiple languages contains useful content and tutorials. The new signing process includes an upper limit on spending, making the signing process easy and quick, you can also ensure a free 90-day trial. View real-time usage and Bill details directly from the Windows Azure Management Portal, and view the expected cost using a Simplified pricing calculator.
  • Improved database Scale-3 times the size of the original largest SQL Azure database (no additional cost required-we will introduce it in detail below) and SQL Azure Federation (a new partitioning mode that simplifies flexible horizontal scaling ).
  • Higher overall value-The new price ceiling of the largest SQL Azure database reduces the actual price per GB by 67%, and the data transmission price in North America and Europe by 25%, the Service Bus is free of charge from now until March 2012.

Windows Azure is constantly improved based on your feedback. We recommend that you check today's updates and our pricing changes, participate in tomorrow's "Learn Windows Azure" activity online, and communicate with us through comments posted on this article or on Twitter @ WindowsAzure, let us know what you think. These are justPartKey points. For more information, see the following.

We look forward to your feedback and wish you a pleasant holiday!

The procedure is as follows::

Ease of use:

  • Simplified risk-free trial-With a three-step quick start process, you can easily sign up for Windows Azure. The maximum expenditure can now be used for our 90-day free Introductory Special, which is also applicable to MSDN users. This eliminates the use that will incur excessive fees and exceed the free quota limit.
  • Improved subscription management and real-time usage visibility-You can easily change the price plan without creating a new subscription, cancel unnecessary subscriptions, and view the latest usage and billing details directly from the Windows Azure Management Portal.
  • Simplified Bill-Use the abstract view invoice to get a general understanding of the main usage and Bill details. If necessary, you can run in-depth reports across multiple information fields. We can issue monthly invoices to customers with multiple subscriptions in just one day.
  • Automatic MSDN Detection-Get a reminder about the free Windows Azure benefits included in your MSDN subscription.
  • Updated SQL Azure Management Portal-The new portal has a Metro-style user interface that contains some new features, including some new work areas with new features, such as easier database monitoring and drill-down database architecture, query plans, spatial data, indexes/keys, and query performance statistics. The new portal also supports SQL Azure Federation.
  • SQL Azure Federation and the size of the added database-With SQL Azure Federation, databases can be flexibly scaled horizontally and managed in a new partitioning mode with ease. This new feature significantly simplifies the process of setting a flexible database layer, which can be re-partitioned Based on the Application workload, provides almost unlimited scale, good economic benefits, and a multi-tenant mechanism that simplifies modern cloud applications. We also increased the maximum database size in SQL Azure by three times, from 50 GB to 150 GB, to achieve higher flexibility to meet the increasing storage needs. These are only some updates included in the current SQL Azure Q4 2011 Service Release. Please visit a detailed article about Service Release later this morning, which provides more details.

Interoperability:

  • Windows Azure SDK for Node. js-We have expanded our support for more languages and introduced Windows Azure SDK for Node. js. This download contains the Node. js library for Windows Azure blob, table, and queue storage. It also contains Windows Azure PowerShell for Node. js and provides command line tools for the development and deployment of Node. js applications. The source code of the Node. js client library can also be found on GitHub. You can find new content, tutorials, examples, and application templates in the Windows Azure Node. js Development Center.
  • ForWindows AzureBased onApache HadoopPreview release-To help enhance the big data feature on Windows Azure, we released a Hadoop-based preview release on Windows Azure. This preview allows you to easily run Hadoop projects on Windows Azure to achieve some unique advantages, such as ease of use and advanced data analysis. Key points include:
    • Thanks to a set of new setup programs that simplify setup and deployment, installing and setting Hadoop on Windows Azure takes only a few hours, not days.
    • The new JavaScript library enables millions of JavaScript developers to use Windows Azure's new Hadoop-based service to build MapReduce jobs for the first time.
    • Hive ODBC Driver and Hive Add-in for Excel support the analysis of unstructured data through familiar tools (including Excel and workbook.

Later this week, this preview will be available to a limited number of customers. If you are interested in using this preview, complete this table with the details of your big data scenario. Microsoft will issue access code to select customers based on use cases.

  • New OSS Tool-As part of our continuous work in the OSS community, we have released a large number of tools to help Windows Azure developers use OSS technology. The following are some key points:

    • Eclipse/Java-We made an important update to Windows Azure Plugin for Eclipse through Java released in March. It introduces many new usability and feature enhancements that can be downloaded with the Windows Azure SDK for Java. Watch the video and view the quick overview demonstration. Key points include support for sticky sessions, startup scripts pre-built for popular Java servers, and remote Java debugging.
    • MongoDB-Windows Azure integration, deployment package, documentation, and sample code.
    • SQL Azure Federation-A new feature provides built-in support for horizontal scaling of the flexible data layer. We also released a new SQL Database Federations Specification under Microsoft Open Specification Promise, which describes other SQL functions that support data partitioning for cloud scalability.
    • Solr/Lucene: A set of code tools and configuration guides that best utilize Solr running on Windows Azure. We demonstrate how to configure and host Solr/Lucene in Windows Azure, use multi-instance replication to implement the Index Service, and use a single instance to generate an index through the persistent index mounted in Azure storage.
    • Memcached: Guide to deploying, running, and optimizing memory cache on Windows Azure from a non-. NET language.

For more information about these tools and download links, see the Port 25 blog.

Overall value:

To provide our customers with the best possible value, we made the following price changes:

  • Maximum price of large SQL Azure Databases-In addition to the maximum database size 3 times from 50 GB to 150 GB, we also introduced the price ceiling, which reduces the actual cost per GB for customers with large databases. From today on, the maximum price for each SQL Azure database is USD 499.95. This change allows customers with 50 GB or larger databases to continue expanding their capacity without additional costs. Customers who use the 150 GB database can see that their effective price per GB has dropped by 67%.
  • Lower data transmission prices-From now on, the price for data transmission in zone 1 (North America and Europe) is USD 0.12/GB (previously USD 0.15), and in Zone 2 (Asia Pacific) the price for data transmission is USD 0.19/GB (previously USD 0.20)
  • Simplified service bus pricing and free promotion period-Based on your feedback, we are changing the way to charge for the service bus to increase value and simplify usage. Starting from April 1, 2012, the service bus will be billed based on two new measurement methods, and we will not be charged based on the connection.
    • Relay hours-$100 per 0.10 hours
    • Message operation-$10,000 per 0.01 requests

To help you get familiar with new measurement methods and understand pricing, we will provide a service bus free of charge before January 1, March 31, 2012. Please visit the Windows Azure pricing page for more details.
