Windows Firewall to ping, ping-_win configuration Method Server

When I ping another computer on the same LAN (that is, on the same network segment) through this machine, I find that if the firewall is turned on, it will not ping at all. Once you've closed the firewall, you can ping it. What is this for? What exactly should be set?

The reason is that the current computer system, for security reasons, does not allow the external host to ping it by default. However, in a secure LAN environment, the ping test is required by the administrator for network testing. How do I change settings? XP systems differ from WIN7 systems:

Windows xp,windows Server 2003:
Windows Firewall--> Advanced--> ICMP--> settings--> the "Allow incoming echo request" Before the check--> confirm--> is done.

Windows 7,win 2008 r2,2012 R2:
Windows Firewall--> Advanced Settings--> Inbound rules--> found in the list "File and Printer Sharing (Echo request-icmpv4-in)"--> Right-click to select the Enable rule and set it to ' Allow connections ' in its properties--> OK--&G T Done.
To ban Ping, remove the tick.
