Windows Virtual Machine installation tutorial for Mac OSX using VMware Fusion, osxvmware
Before installing a virtual machine, you must prepare for the installation in two steps. First, install and activate VMware Fusion. If you have not downloaded VMware Fusion, please refer to the previous blog post, recommended by the APP, download VMware Fusion and activate it. After the preparation is complete, open VMWare Fusion and the following interface appears (you can also click the file in the menu bar to create a new one). We choose to install from the CD or image and click Continue.
Then we select another CD or CD image below, and find the windows Image File you downloaded from the pop-up Finder window.
Click continue.
On the quick installation page, set the password, account name, and so on. Do not set the password. Search for a windows version you selected online.
The product key can be used after any search. After entering the information, click Continue.
Next, we will select the Virtual Machine installation method. Here are two methods. After clicking this method, we will provide a detailed introduction below, but don't be blinded by his introduction. Would you mind choosing to be more independent, because there are several problems if you choose to be more seamless. First, a wide range of shared files will quickly fill up the hard disks allocated to the virtual machine, because when the shared folder on your Mac is used by the Mac system, it will also be seen in the windows virtual machine, which will also occupy the storage. Second, when you delete this virtual machine, there is a possibility of deleting files in the Mac, so here we choose to be more independent. Of course, this does not discard shared folders. After selecting a more independent folder, we can still set a shared folder. I will introduce it later, so that we only need to create a shared folder, you can copy the files you want to use on the Virtual Machine to save a lot of space for the virtual machine. So select more independent and click Continue.
We will see the configuration completed interface. Here we must follow the steps. Do not click the finish button directly! Click the "finish" button to automatically start the installation, but we have not set the Virtual Machine. Therefore, click "custom settings" to bring up a dialog box that allows us to modify the name and storage of the virtual machine. In general, you do not need to change it. Because VMware will create a folder named Virtual Machine in our document folder and store our virtual machine. After modification, wait a few seconds to bring up the VM settings page.
The following is the most important virtual machine setup step. First, click the hard disk (SCSI) in the second row and drag it left and right to adjust the disk size. This is for everyone's needs, we recommend that you avoid being too small. I usually divide it into at least 40 Gb or 50 GB, because I will install a game in it. After selecting, click application.
Note that after you set the hard disk, do not click the Red Cross in the upper left corner and Click Show All. It doesn't matter if you click it accidentally. There is a small wrench in the menu bar of the VM window. Click it and you will go back. Click the processor and memory in the first line, and select the number of processor cores and memory size based on your computer configuration and your needs. The following describes my computer configuration and selection for your reference. My computer i7 dual-core 2.9 GHz, with 8 GB memory. My virtual machine is two processor cores and 3 GB memory. Note that the performance of the virtual machine is based on the Mac. If you do not understand the performance, check whether the virtual machine is far away. If the setting is too high, the virtual machine will not be faster, instead, the virtual machine and Mac are stuck. After setting, click show all to return to the setting page.
The last thing you need to set is share. Because we used to select a more independent virtual machine, shared folders are disabled by default. Here we choose to enable shared folders, because shared folders will save us time and space and improve efficiency. Here we have two more options. The first one is to directly check the folder below. If you choose this method, it is best to check the document, because this folder usually contains the document code, which is relatively small. However, this method is doomed to contain many files in Mac systems that are useless for windows. So here I recommend the second method, that is, click the plus sign in the middle to select the path and create a folder for sharing between virtual machines and Mac, which not only saves a lot of space, in addition, it is easy for us to manage files. Here, I created a new file named "win7 Virtual Machine shared folder" under the document folder. We noticed that the permission is read and write, which is enough. Do not select read-only, we can drag the files to be shared in the Mac to this folder, and the files under the virtual machine can be accessed directly. After the files under the virtual machine are placed in this shared folder, mac can also be accessed. (You can skip the text below. My virtual machine is not checked. I just want to demonstrate it.) Now, all the settings of the virtual machine are complete. Click the Red Cross in the upper-left corner, and then click the "play" button in the VM window to start installation. The subsequent steps are simple, just like the normal installation of the system. Wait patiently.
After entering the desktop, the virtual machine tool will be downloaded. After the VM is automatically restarted, the installation is complete.
After restarting, we can see our shared folder on the desktop.
