Windows XP burning Function

When you are eager to burn a disk and cannot find a burning program, you can feel the beauty of the built-in burning function in windows. No matter how many companies Microsoft will offend when designing the recording software, we should first learn how to use the burning function of Windows XP. ^_^

Installation and setup of the burner

After the recorder is connected, start Windows XP and immediately display a small dialog box on the system's taskbar-find the new hardware without worrying about it. The system will automatically identify the burner model, when it prompts "this device can be used", it will be OK (1 )!

1. To enable the Burner Burning function, You must select the check box before "enable CD recording on this device". Otherwise, the recorder becomes a common optical drive. If you have installed third-party recording software, such as easy CD and Nero, there will be no "Recording" tag in the attribute window.

2. Before you burn a CD, Windows XP automatically creates an image for the files to be burned on the hard disk. For example, if you want to burn a mb data disk, the program will automatically make the 1.1 MB file into a CD image and save it on the hard disk. Then, at, the file in the image will be "Moved" to the CD. Someone may ask-is it necessary to create an image if the file I want to burn is already on the hard disk? Because our "Data Source" may be a CD in the optical drive (also known as "copy-to-disc"), and in order to ensure the stability and security of burning, windows XP requires an image no matter where the "Data Source" is. Therefore, in the settings of the burner attribute, the "select image disk" option is used. The default program is disk C. Because disk C is usually a system partition, we recommend that you change the image disk to another disk, make sure that the disk has at least 1 GB of free space.

3. There are also speed options in the recorder attribute. The default value is the highest speed supported by the recorder. Be sure to pay attention to it in actual use-if you are using a cheap recorder, it is best to reduce the speed to "4x" or "6x", because the actual burning speed of these disks is far less than its nominal value, when burning a disk with a high speed, it is easy to cause a "flying disk ".

Burn data disks

As mentioned above, to burn a data disc in Windows XP, copy the file to be burned to the drive where the image is stored, make the image, and then burn it. This process seems complicated, but Windows XP has made all the preparations for us. We only need to copy and paste it ", drag and Drop files or add the files to be burned to the disc burning list.

1. add files waiting for burning

After you insert a blank recording disk into the burner, you can add the files to be burned to the Burner Burning list as follows:

1. Right-click the selected file to be engraved, select "send" from the right-click menu, and select the target path as the drive letter of the recorder. 4.

2. Select the file to be engraved and select "copy ". Right-click the recorder drive letter and select "Paste" from the menu ".

3. Open the resource manager and drag and drop the file to be copied to the drive letter of the recorder.

Ii. Edit the burning list

Someone asked, what if I accidentally chose the wrong file? Are these unnecessary files also engraved on the CD? Don't worry. In the above operation, although we copied the files to be engraved to the drive letter of the recorder, these files are not actually burned, but copied to the Temporary Folder. If you don't believe it, you can see that each time we add a file, a dialog box will appear in the system taskbar, showing "you have a file waiting to be written to CD. After all the files are added, You can edit the burning list-go to "my computer" and double-click the recorder drive letter. You will find all the files copied just now are here, now you can manage the files to be engraved like the resource manager. You only need to delete the files that do not need to be burned. In case you want to "deny all", it is not difficult-click "delete temporary file" on the left-side taskbar, 6.

Note: It is very easy to manage files to be engraved, but there is a principle that you must remember that the total capacity of all files cannot exceed the capacity of the dial (currently, the size of most of the dial is 650 MB ).

Iii. Start burning

After confirming that the files to be engraved are correct, click "write these files to CD" in the left-side taskbar in Figure 6 to enter the burning wizard, 7. Enter the CD name (the default is the current year, month, and day) in the CD Name field, and click Next to start recording. The program displays the remaining time during burning. The entire burning time depends on the burning speed and the size of the engraved disc.

After burning, if the check box before "close this wizard after file writing" is not selected in the window shown in Figure 7, the program will ask "do you want to create another CD with these files" after burning a CD. If you want to burn multiple CDs with the same content, you can continue to burn them, otherwise, click "finish ".

Note: When using Windows XP to burn a CD, the previously mentioned burning experience is also applicable (for example, checking for viruses and organizing disks before engraving, other programs cannot be used when burning a burner that does not have the anti-engraving technology.) because the success or failure of burning is related to the recorder and the recording software, if you do not have a sound recorder or a burning environment, the best recording software will also fail.

4. Advanced Skills

In the actual use of the process may encounter such a problem-has been burned to a file on the CD is wrong, and now to rewrite this file, but the use of a CD-R dial, duplicate write operations are not supported. What should I do? If there is still room for the CD, for example, a memory MB recording disk, we only burn MB of data on it, then we have a way to replace the file on the CD with the "steal the column" method. What is the theoretical basis for doing so? In the past, Windows XP used a multi-segment method to burn the disc. That is to say, Windows XP does not "completely terminate" the disc after a burning task is completed, however, an "interface" will be left at the end. If you want to append data to the CD later, you can continue to burn as long as there is space, in addition, the data that is burned multiple times seems to be different from the data that is burned once. In addition, if the appended file has the same name as an existing file on the CD, the appended file will overwrite the previous file.

If you want to replace a file on the CD, you only need to add and burn the correct file to the CD according to the normal operation method, during the burning, the program will prompt you whether to replace it. Select "yes.

Now, we have learned to burn simple data discs on Windows XP. Despite the simplicity of Windows XP, it is impossible to burn some special discs (such as VCD ). However, from the actual usage, it can meet the needs and make us feel that "using a burner is as simple as using a soft drive ".
