Shutdown and restart Win8.1 applications

In Window 8, turning off modern-style applications simply drag them down to the bottom of the screen to "discard" (as shown below), but after updating to Windows 8.1, the same operation just hangs them backstage, not off.

To completely shut down the application in Windows 8.1, you need to hover over the bottom of the screen after dragging and dropping it until the application's main interface thumbnail is rotated and transformed to apply the tile icon before releasing it (as shown below).

So it's completely off the application.

There should be a lot of users already aware of this, but you probably don't know that it's possible to restart the application once the thumbnail has been rotated into an icon and then pulled up again.

If you need to reboot when running the Win8.1 application, you can do so by doing this without having to shut down and start from the Start screen.

Avoid applying Automatic Updates

Windows 8.1 has added the ability to apply automatic updates, but sometimes you don't want it to be updated with its own application. If you want to turn off automatic Updates and revert to the Windows 8 Manual update, change the following settings to be implemented.

Start the Windows App Store first, then exhale the Charm bar, click Settings-Apply updates;

Then change the Automatically update my application option to No on the Apply Update page.

Quick to find new installation applications

Another small change in Windows 8.1 is that the newly installed application does not automatically generate a tile on the start screen, which requires us to add it manually. When you have more and more applications, how to quickly find the application of the new installation? Follow these methods.

When you find an application that interests you and install it, switch to the Application list view by clicking the small arrow icon on the lower left of the start screen (or by sliding the touchscreen up).

The classification is then changed to "by installation date", so that the newly installed application appears in the first, and the word "add" is added to the right of the newly installed application icon to help the user confirm that this is the new application that has just been installed.

When you find a new installation and then pin it to the Start screen, right-click (or long on the touchscreen) to open the command bar below and click "Fix to Start screen".

Finally, return to the Start screen and move the new tile to where you want it.
