At&t SYNAPITC Cloud Storage Solution: Users are fully in charge on demand

May 20, 2009, At&t announces that at&t SYNAPITC storage (an on-demand storage solution) provides comprehensive control over the storage, distribution, and retrieval of data by enterprise customers at any location, at any time, using any network device.


   


at&t SYNAPITC Storage provides an enterprise-class storage service that enables customers to use the AT&T network cloud for data storage, publishing, and retrieval to meet their business or legal requirements. Through a web-based customer portal, customers can specify their storage standards-that is, user policy.   The service automatically expands or reduces the amount of storage that users need to pay for the savings they use.

    
    at&t selected EMC as its technology provider in the area of information infrastructure technology and solutions to At&t SYNAPITC storage platforms provide low-level support. Two companies have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to jointly develop and sell the service.
   
    at&t this month to provide this service to customers on a controlled basis, and plans to make a full promotion in the third quarter. The service is deployed in the At&t Internet Data Center (IDC) in the United States and can be used by networked customers anywhere. Over time, at&t will be planning to add this service to selected global Internet data centers to meet the needs of customers across the globe.

At&t synaptic storage will be especially helpful for businesses that are changing storage requirements. The service is also ideal for long-term retention of data that transactions no longer need, and typically only a fraction of the cost of dedicated storage area network data management. Any customer site, including Third-party data centers, can be retrieved at any time via a notebook, smartphone, or other networked handheld device.

Leveraging EMC's Atmos technology (a policy-based information management platform), At&t synaptic storage provides users with the full flexibility to store, publish, and retrieve data via the Internet or directly via a virtual private network or other transport device in at& The T network Cloud completes, allowing customers to create a "virtual private storage Cloud" under the protection of industry-leading at&t network security services.
