Chip maker Broadcom today launched a 20 dollar Internet chip development kit, which combines thermometers, accelerators, gyroscopes, compasses, humidity and pressure sensors, so developers can build a prototype of the IoT. Broadcom says the kit makes it easy for hardware designers to create hardware for the internet of things, to perceive the surroundings and to convey information to mobile phones, home hub, or other nearby devices.
Broadcom hopes the kit will sell more chips for smart baby monitors, smart locks, motion monitors, and other similar devices.
Broadcom This development kit name is wiced, built-in microcontroller, and uses Bluetooth or Wi-Fi wireless communication components. Broadcom said the wiced kit could be the first version of a developer's final product, and once a developer downloads free software to communicate with the device, the developer can build a wireless link in a minute for technical evaluation.
In addition, developers can remove all unwanted sensors according to Broadcom design to reduce costs and repackage them with the appropriate new plastic shell without worrying about interfering with the remaining components.
