With the efficiency of ASIC system and the programmability of software, the concept of reconfigurable can improve the performance of computer. But in the background of cloud computing application, a file system is needed to efficiently deal with the mass of small files on the Internet. For this purpose, this paper expounds and analyzes the existing small file system and designs a small file system (Fpgasmallfs) based on Field Programmable gate Array (FPGA). The system improves the speed of file system and disk space utilization by simplifying file system structure and dynamic partition disk volume, and simultaneously accelerates the file system mount process with the help of FPGA, which improves the utilization of disk space. The test results show that Fpgasmallfs has better system performance than ReiserFS and EXT2 systems.
