Beijing Time August 2, according to AllThingsD, Cisco Systems (Cisco BAE) announced today the appointment of corporate cloud computing company Salesforce.com CEO Benioff (Marc Benioff) as director of the company.
Benioff joined Cisco's board in full compliance with the company's CEO, John Chambers, in a restructuring plan for Cisco over the past year. As soon as he talks about Cisco's new strategy, Chambers will keep mentioning the term "cloud computing".
Benioff, a senior vice president of Oracle, is the right-hand arm of Oracle's CEO, Ellison Larry Ellison. Benioff, who founded Salesforce, salesforce more than 10 years ago, said the idea was radical, saying users no longer needed to install any software on their local computers to run CRM (customer-relationship management, CRM) database.
At the time, the service was called "Software and Services" (Software-as-a-service,saas), which was "in the cloud" after the concept of how the application was run.
In fact, Cisco is becoming an important manufacturer of the cloud storage technology architecture market, especially its unified computing system (Unified Computing System, ucs), which integrates the server and network environments into a unified build. Cisco has become the world's third-biggest-blade server maker, according to IDC, a market-research firm.
In addition to Benioff, the Cisco board is also connected to the CEO of Enduring Hydro, a clean energy company, Christina Johnson (Kristina Johnson), the Obama administration's deputy secretary of Energy, who took office in May 2009 and left at the end of 2010. Before that, Johnson was Dean of Johns Hopkins University (the Johns Hopkins University). (Compile/婕妤)
