The Big Data era is coming, but executives are still a bit slow to maximise and reap the value of information. Data collection and storage becomes easier, but the bigger challenge is how to dig out meaningful insights from the data. A survey by Oracle on US corporate chief management found that 6/10 per cent of respondents thought their organization was not ready to handle all the data collected, and more than 9/10 thought it would be a loss to gain from the data.

Almost all executives believe that the improvement of information collection and analysis will be necessary in the next two years. 43% of people think that the most necessary ability to ascend is to turn information into an operational insight. It then enhances the accuracy of the information collected and the ability to analyze data.
Executives in the retail industry think their big data challenges and benefits are using these large data to improve the user's multi-channel experience. But there are also challenges in other areas, including supply chain and inventory optimization, as well as the use of user data to personalize product promotions and marketing activities
