Enterprise IT investment is a recovery trend but still cautious
First look at the trend of it investment. IDC Japan surveyed the top 1903 companies, including groups, in the Information Systems Department. The results show that, compared with the previous year, the backbone enterprises with the 100~999 of employment scale in the 2012 's IT investment intention, chose to "increase" it investment enterprises more than the choice of "reduced" enterprises, showing a recovery trend.
Although all enterprises in the 2012 IT investment plans to increase or decrease, the choice of "increased" enterprises accounted for 15.5%, still less than 19.8% to choose the "reduction" of enterprises, but compared with the actual situation in 2011, the gap has narrowed. At the same time, in the employment scale of the backbone of the 100~999 people, the "increase" of the enterprise is 25.9%, and the choice of "reduction" of the enterprise only 21.2%, select "Increase" more than the choice of "reduction" (Figure 1).

In specific areas of investment, the proportion of businesses with "business continuity and disaster response" as the main IT investment area for the 2012 is higher than the survey conducted in the aftermath of the Japan earthquake in 2011. The investment of Business continuity plan (BCP) and disaster Recovery (DR) responses by enterprises and SMEs is expanding.
On the other hand, enterprises with "network, facilities, hardware security" and "information leakage countermeasure" are decreasing trend. At the same time, on the impact of the earthquake on the enterprise consciousness, how to invest in the actual work in 2012 was investigated. The results showed that, after the earthquake, the change in corporate consciousness not only reflected the increase in BCP and Dr Investments, but also the possibility of expanding the use of smartphones and cloud services.
IDC Japan predicts that after 2012, the domestic IT Service market will gradually return to positive growth, but the impact of the European debt crisis remains, this trend may not be stable. "Chuo Mi, a research analyst at IDC's IT services, said," IT service providers should enhance BCP and Dr While satisfying the enterprise's need for flexible application of cloud and mobility, strengthen the research on the backbone enterprises that are looking forward to recovery as soon as possible, and "jointly develop" overseas customers through their own risk, Look for changes in the business structure that can survive in a low growth market.
An increase in the number of companies that "study but not apply" to the cloud
The second is the trend of cloud application. April 2012, IDC Japan implemented a user trend survey. According to the survey, the cloud has a certain understanding of the enterprise, cloud applications and import rates are SaaS (26.3%), Public Cloud (19.1%), cloud-specific industry (8.2%), Private Cloud (17.2%), and the results show a steady growth trend compared to the same survey conducted in 2011 (Figure 2).
Figure 2: Changes to Cloud Application research status: IDC Japan
But compared to the 2011 survey, the proportion of companies that said "research is not applied" to the cloud has increased sharply 15~20%.
In this context, after the spring of 2011, the impact of Japan's large earthquakes, although the specific research and application of the cloud and the rapid increase in enterprises, but after research, according to these technical and management issues, feel unable to apply and import cloud in a short period of enterprises more.
However, IDC Japan also believes that the company's specific cloud research to promote the understanding of the cloud, the long-term popularization of the cloud process has a role in promoting.
At the same time, IDC Japan also pointed out that the company's expectations of the public cloud is to cut costs, in the supplier selection criteria also attaches great importance to costs, this trend has not changed since ancient times. Despite the intense competition and the rapid increase in the number of suppliers providing public clouds, there are still very limited numbers of suppliers and services for specific research and evaluation.
According to the survey, the number of vendors using public cloud accounts for nearly 90% of the 3. IDC Japan Analysis said that for suppliers, to enhance visibility, in the enterprise research and evaluation of the list of targets is a critical issue.
According to IDC, Japan's domestic cloud market, in the 2010, SaaS will be the supplier of the project from "popularity" into "the difference between suppliers." PAAs and IaaS also made the same change in 2011. In the 2012, private cloud also turned "private cloud inspiration and the popularity of supplier popularity" into "differentiation".
However, private cloud imports are diverse and complex compared to public clouds. Hardware and software packaging solutions for importing private clouds are evolving, as are the expectations of enterprise-import partners. Therefore, IDC Japan IT service research analyst Songbenzong said, "in the changing cloud market, cloud providers should be in the customer's perspective to provide cloud solutions and clearly show their own characteristics, so that can produce differentiation."
These are the latest developments in Japanese companies ' IT investments and cloud applications from the IDC Japan survey, and what are the correlations between the two findings?
On the face of it, it investment is a bit of a recovery trend, and cloud application and import rates can be said to grow steadily, but how will the structure of IT investments change if the proportion of companies applying and importing SaaS and public cloud in the future increases? As of now, according to the survey, the trend is not clear.
Again, a sharp increase in the proportion of companies that have "studied but not applied" to the cloud is noteworthy. Does the supplier seriously provide the solution? We should not only pay attention to the phenomenon summed up by the survey results, but also seriously to analyze and study.
