A medium-sized refrigerator consumes about 322 kilowatt hours a year, while iPhone users consume 361 kilowatt hours per year.

Beijing August 20 news, the latest study found that iPhone consumes more energy than a medium-sized refrigerator.

According to the British "Daily Mail" reported that technology investment consulting firm Digital Power Group in the report calculated an account, a medium-sized refrigerator annual power consumption is 322 kWh, while the annual consumption of iPhone users power Is 361 kwh. Most of the energy the iPhone consumes is not for charging, but for supporting wireless connectivity and data streaming services.

The report also pointed out that the annual energy consumption of the world communication system is 1.5 million kilowatt hours, accounting for 10% of the total global energy consumption, which is a combination of Germany and Japan. This scale of energy consumption is equivalent to the global electricity consumption in 1985, because only 1000 kWh of electricity is enough for 90,000 homes a year.

The report said that as more and more devices become "smart" and "connected," hourly network traffic is expected to exceed network traffic for 2000 year-round, and most of the energy is used for communications services. With the rise of media stream, the energy consumption in the future will surely be higher and higher. The report predicts that in 2035, the power used for cloud services will be only a little less than the electricity used for lighting.

The way video is streamed to the iPhone through the video stream consumes more power than shipping DVDs to users. Of course, one of the suppliers of cloud data services in the world is none other than Apple. Therefore, Apple is inevitably a large energy consumer.

Unfortunately, however, most of the current energy consumed in the world comes from coal. Apple, for example, consumes 55% of its energy from coal. However, if coal continues to play the cheapest energy role, not only the high utilization rate but also the worsening trend of global warming will be further worsen.

As global data usage does not show a downward trend, Apple is also looking for solutions. Apple is working hard toward using renewable energy. Using wind, solar, geothermal and other energy sources, apples are as close as possible to "carbon neutrality" (to calculate the total amount of carbon dioxide emissions that can be absorbed by the green environment to achieve environmental protection).
