Progress and update of database

Today's IT World, database NoSQL and newsql processing data way, has gone beyond the use of traditional relational databases. Traditional relational databases don't disappear forever--but their brilliance has passed.

Many of the NoSQL databases that have just come out have become popular, such as Mongndb and Cassandra. This is a good remedy for the limitations of the traditional database system. Of course, relative to the rapid development of NoSQL, the database system based on SQL is rather lifeless. This should be the reason why the database needs to be updated constantly.

Relational databases have long been a key component of enterprise deployments, but there are now better choices to accommodate new data structures and modern hardware systems.

Manufacturers such as IBM, Microsoft and Oracle will continue to use relational databases to dominate the core functions of their financial transactions. But the NoSQL database seems to be more adapted to today's mass data age. such as Apache Hadoop and MapReduce technology.

Bloor Group's chief analyst, Robin Bloor, says the traditional relational database is obsolete and its architecture needs to be updated. The rationale for Bloor is that data access to disk is no longer important as the technology of multiple CPUs and solid-state drives matures. Solid-State drives are faster, so the reading rate between disk and memory will increase.

A metadata policy advisor at Minneapolis, Minnesota Dan McCreary points out that SQL databases also have their own problems, such as not having good scalability. When the data grows beyond the limits that a server can withstand, it must share or split data across multiple servers, which is a complex process. In addition to the problems caused by external links. For example, the merging of data in multiple tables may cause problems when performing some operations across the server.

The rise of NoSQL and the emergence of "newsql"

NoSQL will change the scope of the data definition. It is no longer the original data type, such as integers, floating point. The data may be the entire file. NoSQL may scare DBAs because they worry about losing their domain name.

NoSQL databases are non relational, horizontally scalable, distributed, and open source. MongoDB's founder, Dwight Merriman, says NoSQL can serve as a back store for Web application servers, content managers, structured event logs, server-side and file storage for mobile applications.

Michael Stonebraker, chief technology officer at VOLTDB, a distributed database company, says NoSQL databases offer good scalability and flexibility, but they also have their own shortcomings. Because the Sql,nosql database system is not used, it does not have the characteristics of highly structured queries. NoSQL Other issues include actions that do not provide acid (atomicity, consistency, isolation, and durability). In addition, different NoSQL databases have their own query language, which makes it difficult to standardize application interfaces. Stonebraker that the lag of a database system is usually due to a number of factors. such as the buffer pool maintained by the database system for the purpose of recovery logs, and the data fields that manage locks and locks. These behaviors were found to consume 96% of the resources of the system in the VOLTDB test.

RDBMSes processed only about 16% of the data.

"Although relational databases feel the pressure of new technology, the RDBMS still occupies some of the land in enterprise computing." The current RDBMS market is about 35 billion dollars. This includes software licensing, services, technical support, and maintenance of the account, "said Noel Yuhanna, a Forrester analyst."

Forrester predicts that 25% of the business data in the enterprise will be structured data, with at least 65% using RDBMS or other traditional relational databases, while the RDBMS rdbmses at least 16% per cent of the transaction data.

Enterprises will have 75% of business data and semi-structured files (such as XML, e-mail and EDI) and unstructured data (such as documents, pictures, audio, and video) combined.

Yuhanna says about 5% of the data resides in relational databases, and the rest are distributed in non relational databases and file formats.

In addition, column data may become an overly candidate product for changes in the database domain, or they will make relational database products simpler.

Traditional relational data vendors such as IBM, Microsoft and Oracle certainly have new plans in their RDBMS areas, and they will not choose to disclose their plans.

Bloor says no one will notice that the RDBMS may die. For example, Oracle may acquire new database technology, but it may still be named Oracle, but it will not be the same Oracle database as it used to be.
