Design | Crystal Reports are implemented by using the multiple-column format feature.
1. Enable the "Multi-column format" feature.
(1) Enter the "section Expert" dialog box and select "Details" in "section".
(2) On the Public tab, select multiple-column formatting, and the Layout tab appears.
2. Adjust the layout to achieve the effect of columns.
To divide the two columns, adjust the width of the detail size to ensure that twice times the width is less than the width of the page after removing the margins, so that you can display two rows of records on a single line.
To divide the three columns, adjust the width of the detail size to make sure that three times times the width is less than the width of the page after removing the margins, so that three rows of records can be displayed on one line.
In turn, implement the columns of the other columns.
Reference: Layout tab (section Specialist) Introduction
The Layout tab appears when the Details section is selected and the Multiple-column formatting box is selected on the Public tab.
Use the Layout tab to set up the report column format. That is, instead of printing the data down the page, you can set multiple columns to make the data flow between columns. You can also print data on the page in advance, by printing the first record in each column, printing the second record in each column, and then printing the third record, and so on. The dialog box is divided into four smaller boxes.
Detailed Data size
This box enables you to specify the dimensions (height and width) of a detailed data. Determine the width of each detail you want (based on the number of characters, font size, and so on) and enter the value in the Width edit box.
Determine the height of each detail you want (based on the number of rows in the detail, the font size, and so on) and enter the value in the Height edit box.
Detailed Data spacing
Use this box to specify the blank areas (spacing, gutter, and so on) that you want to leave out in the details. Horizontal = Horizontal spacing of details, perpendicular = vertical spacing of details.
Determine the spacing you want to allow. Enter data horizontal spacing in the horizontal edit box, and enter vertical spacing in the vertical edit box.
Print direction
The Print direction box enables you to specify the path that the program follows when it prints details on the report page. Options are:
Column after advance
Prints the details in each column from left to right by first printing the first detail in the first column, then printing the first detail in the next column, and so on. Then, when all the columns contain details, the program moves down the page, prints the second detail in the first column, prints the second detail in the second column, and so on.
First column, then down.
Print the details down the first column, then along the second column, and so on.
Format a group with multiple columns
Select this check box if you want your program to format a group with multiple columns with the width, detail spacing, and print direction specified for the selected section.
