Cognos6 problem summary

During this time, I learned about Cognos and found that there was too little information about it. The following describes the problems encountered in the learning process and summarizes them by referring to the previous Cognos user information.

I. Is the cube published in ppx garbled when it is opened?

Solution: ppx is displayed in pdf format by default, which is garbled in pdf format. Open Administration -- powerplay enterprise server administration and view the server attributes (the second item in the left-side window). In settings, the following two settings are respectively set:

"Font default": Kaiti_gb2312

"Default encoding": Cp936.
 

2. log on to powerplay Enterprise Server, connect to the local server, and report: access is denied!

Solution: delete an object.

1. Stop powerplay Enterprise Server services
2. Delete cognoscer1ppserverppsroot. CFX
3. Restart powerplay Enterprise Server services.
4. Login
The file records the configuration information of ppes, including the login password.

(PS: I encountered this problem, and finally deleted this file cannot be started. I suspect that the configuration was wrong when the Access Manager server was configured, Because I configured two directory servers, the port number is 390. I don't know if this is the problem, but I don't know how to change it back. I can't help it. If I uninstall and reinstall it, I will be OK .)
 

3. After Entering the Enterprise Server, you must first ask connet to server. If "server name:" is displayed and OK, the system prompts "the server in not available ", it may be that the "Cognos powerplay Enterprise Server" service is not started.

Solution: When you start powerplay Enterprise Server to connect to a server, if "the server is not available" is displayed, check the following:
(1) Have you set the machine name suffix?
(2) have Netscape Directory Server been installed?
(3) is the initial configuration of Directory Server Ready?
(4) is the host name, port number, and suffix used for initial configuration of Directory Server consistent with the value selected when installing Netscape Directory Server? (You Can Go to Start> program> Netscape Server products> Netscape console 4.2)
(5) have the Cognos Ticket Server service been started?
(6) are Web Server (IIS) configured )?
(7) have you set up connection in Access Manager and try it out?
(8) have the Cognos powerplay Enterprise Server service been started?

4. After Entering powerplay Enterprise Server, the tool -- publish to upfront button is dimmed.

Solution: security is not set yet. Start the "Cognos powerplay Enterprise Server" and "Cognos Ticket Server" services, select "Set security" under security from the Tools menu, and click "Root User class ", OK.

Sometimes the "Publish to upfront" button in Enterprise Server is grayed out because security is not set in Enterprise Server.

C:/program files/Cognos/cer1/ppserver/ppsroot. delete the CFX file and go to "Administrative Tools"-"services" to restart the "Cognos powerplay Enterprise Server" service.

The system will ask if you want to add security when you use it next time. After you select "add", a dialog box asking you to enter your username and password will appear. After logon, the "Publish to upfront" button will be available. Three services related to upfront should be started before release.

5. After "open with Browser" is used in powerplay Enterprise Server, the browser cannot display the released cube content.

Solution: it may be because the Web service is not started.

Start IIS service: Start the "IIS Admin Service" service in the service. Go to program> Administrative Tools> Internet Service Manager to start
Recognize web sites ".

Apache service start: Start the "Apache 2.2" service in the service.

(PS: start -- run. Enter the services. msc command to open the service window)

6. How to revoke a report from a ppes release to an upfront instance.

Solution: log on to the user and directly hide the user from the webpage.

 

7. When the IE client of different network segments accesses the server of Cognos, it is likely that the client will not be able to access the server. Solution: The main cause is that the server domain name cannot be resolved. The solution is to change the machine name of Cognos on the server to a fixed IP address. Change the machine name in the gateway URL on the right of the ppes server group and upfront server group to the IP address.

 

8. For cognos6.6, there is a bug, that is, if Enterprise Server administrator and upfront server administrator are started, there is no response.

Solution: delete the files in the following path: D:/program files/Cognos/cer1/bin/JRE/1.18/bin/symcjit. dll.

9. Cognos security control mechanism for cube access

 

In our actual project scheme, the data is accessed by B/S. Therefore, we only discuss the Cognos security control mechanism in B/S mode. Cognos's B/S security authentication mechanism is implemented through Netscape Directory Server. All user information of Cognos is stored in the instance of Netscape deirectory server, and user information is read from Netscape Directory Server for permission authentication. The maintenance of user information is performed by accessing the Netscape Directory Server through the Cognos Tool Access Manager.
