Lab environment:
One Laptop (2 GB memory, GB hard drive)
Vmware Server 1.0.6
Linux Enterprise 5.1
Oracle 10g for linux (10.2.0.1)
Preface:
This was not the first lab environment. The virtual machine used vmware workstation. After a while, it was found that the shared disk could not be created using the vmware workstation version, so it was impossible to build the oracle rac lab environment, therefore, we changed vmware workstation to vmware server2.0. After installing vmware server2.0, even starting the web interface becomes a problem. The reinstallation is still the case. In desperation, vmware server1.0.6 is enabled.
Which of the following linux operating systems has been selected? We started to use linux enterprise 4.0. When we created a shared disk, there was always a problem, later, I accidentally discovered junsansi's learning notes in ITPUB, "teach you how to use VMware to install oracle10g RAC in linux". It shows that he uses the linux 5.1 operating system, I also used this version of the operating system to make the experiment smooth.
We also encountered some minor problems when using the media. We needed to build two important media required for oracle rac: clusterware, which is the oracle cluster software, first, oracle software for linux, which can be the cause of the network. After downloading the 10201_database_linux32.zip file and uploading it to the linux operating system, it is very unexpected that the file cannot be decompressed. The reason may be that the download is not sound and some bytes are faulty, as a result, the entire file is unavailable, so only re-download is required, which consumes a lot of time.
During this experiment, we encountered many problems, such as virtual machines, linux operating systems, and oracle databases, as a result, the experiment progress is too long. It takes about two weeks to complete the experiment from preparation to completion, so there will be no less than five reinstalls of the operating system. However, I also encountered these small problems at a loss. As the experiment continued, every problem was solved, and every problem was also filed. During the second Redo, due to the accumulation of problems in the early stage, it went quite smoothly. This also shows that the documents summarized by others cannot be completely copied, because it is unpredictable to encounter any problems during the experiment.
In order to do a good job in this experiment, I drove to Zhongguancun to buy a GB mobile hard drive, and then all the experiments were carried out on the mobile hard drive (the 60 GB hard drive of this machine was full of various files and materials, there is really no space to store lab files ). In this case, we also encountered some accidents. For example, when the linux operating system was being installed on a mobile hard disk, the USB cable connecting the mobile hard disk and the computer suddenly went off, and the whole process had to be repeated.
The experiment was a success. It was recorded here for your reference in order to represent a souvenir and to avoid detours for later colleagues. I am particularly grateful to Jun sansi of ITPUB. Without the help of his documents, my experiment could not be successful.
