Differences in standby, hibernation, and sleep states in Windows computers

While the computer is running, there are three modes: standby, Sleep, and hibernate, in addition to the state mode in normal operation. These three modes are mainly through the coordination of the Machine's power plan, so that the effectiveness and recoverability of data storage can be combined with the power supply, Energy saving and data storage purposes.

Standby is the old system version of the pattern, generally applied to the computer users just temporarily left the operation of the scene. In this scenario, the standby state is fast and the system recovers faster, but it is necessary to ensure the continuous power supply to the computer, otherwise if the power supply is abnormal, then the equivalent is to perform a forced shutdown operation, that is, all the unsaved data will be lost. This tragedy often occurs among users of desktop computers , so it is necessary to be cautious.

Sleep is the new mode in Vista and continues to be used in Win7 systems. It is basically similar to the standby scenario, except that in the sleep state, a small amount of power is needed for the memory, and all unsaved data can be restored if an abnormal power supply occurs. This mode is more advanced than standby mode.

Sleep differs from sleep in that hibernation can support a full power outage and that unsaved data is not lost, but that it takes a long time for data recovery operations to take place.

So when I use the Win7 system, I just need to consider the application of sleep or sleep mode: If you can guarantee the power supply, then choose Sleep Mode, because the operating efficiency is high, if the power supply is not guaranteed, then choose Sleep mode. Of course, personally think the most secure way is to choose to shut down, both power-saving and safe, in order to avoid the machine during the operation of any anomalies, resulting in data loss, not worth the candle.
