1. Delete the Shared Documents folder from my computer:

In the new Windows XP user interface, the most unpleasant thing is that all the Shared Documents folder connections are provided at the top of my computer window. I don't understand why this setting is default, and it seems that it cannot be changed. The icons seem to stick there, and you will see them every day.

Now, we finally find a solution to solve this problem. Open the Registry Editor and go to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ My Computer \ NameSpace \ DelegateFolders.

You will see a subkey such as {59031a47-3f72-44a7-89c5-5595fe6b30ee }. If you delete it, all the Shared Documents folders on your computer will disappear. Of course, you have to restart your computer.

2. delete or edit the "opinion" hyperlink in the title bar:

In Windows XP, Microsoft adds a "Comments" hyperlink to the title bar of each window. In this way, each test user can send his or her comments on the user interface to Microsoft. But for most people, this function does not work. The "Comments" hyperlink is distracting.

For some programs that change the title bar, the "Comments" hyperlink will invalidate the buttons for minimizing, maximizing, and closing the window. Now let's solve this problem. Open the Registry Editor and then go to the following key:

My Computer \ HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Control Panel \ Desktop \
The first line of LameButtonEnabled is used to determine whether a "Comments" hyperlink appears. You only need to change its value to 0 to disable the "Comments" hyperlink. The second line will make you joke about this hyperlink. You can change the content as you want, for example, to "Paul Thurrott ".

You also need to restart your computer to make these changes take effect.

3. High-quality MP3 encoding in Windows Media players:

People often misunderstand the relationship between the formats of Windows Media players and MP3 audio. Basically, a Windows Media Player can play MP3 files, but if you want to encode CD audio into MP3 format, you need an MP3 plug-in.

In Windows XP, Microsoft provides an MP3 plug-in for testing purposes, but the plug-in can only be encoded in 56 Kbps. Therefore, it is useless. If you have an external MP3 encoder installed, you can use a Windows Media Player for higher-speed encoding. Open the Registry Editor and go to the following key:

Here, you can see the LowRate and LowRateSample subkeys. Please change them according to the following values:

"HighRate" = DWORD value of 0002ee00

Now you can open the Windows Media Player, open the "Tools" menu, and then go to "Options", and then select "Copy Music". You can see the MP3 encoding option: 56 Kbps, 64 Kbps, 128 Kbps, and 192 Kbps. Note: you cannot get a higher speed unless you have installed an MP3 encoder. Windows Media Player can only reach 56 Kbps.

5. perform non-participatory installation:

The Windows XP installation process has been greatly improved compared with Win 2000 and Win Me, but it still takes about an hour. You have to sit in front of your computer for an hour and constantly answer the questions in the dialog box and enter the product number. However, Windows XP inherits a very useful feature from Windows 2000: non-participatory installation. You can prepare answers to the questions in the dialog box before installation. In this way, you can save a lot of time to stay with your family. I have previously written an article about Windows 2000 non-participatory installation. The non-participatory Installation Process of Windows XP is roughly the same as that of Windows 2000.

One thing you must know is that this function is designed for an independent Windows XP system. If you want your computer to install other operating systems in addition to Windows XP, you can only perform regular interactive installation. Because non-participatory installation will erase all the other operating systems on your hard disk, Windows XP will be installed. To perform a non-participatory installation, you need to use Setup Manager, which is located in SupportToolsDeploy. cab of the Windows XP CD-ROM.

After extracting the file, you will find many useful tools and help files. The tool we want to use is setupmgr.exe. This is a simple wizard application. After the Wizard is completed, an unattend.txt will be generated. The information stored in this file will be used for non-participatory installation. However, the installation manager is not added to the unattend.txt file, that is, the product number. However, you can add the product number to the unattend.txt file.

Open this file in notepad and add the following line in the [UserData] section: ProductID = "AAAAA-BBBBB-CCCCC-DDDDD-EEEEE" of course, you have to replace your product number with the "AAAAA-BBBBB-CCCCC-DDDDD-EEEEE" above ". Then copy unattend.txt to the floppy disk, and then put the Windows XP CD-ROM into the optical drive, and finally restart. When cdns run automatically, the unattend.txt file will be automatically located on the drive.

If it is found, it will use the information it contains to answer the questions mentioned during the installation process. Finally, remember that non-participatory installation will delete all your installed systems. Therefore, before installation, you must back up important files and carefully read the help files in Deploy. cab.

6. Delete the desktop version text:

In Windows XP, you will see such text in the lower right corner of the screen: Windows XP Professional, Evaluation Copy. Build 2462. Many people do not like the text and want to delete it.

You can do this, but I think it is not worth the candle. The following steps can help you delete the text, but some good image effects will also be removed.

To delete the version text on the desktop, right-click the desktop, select the attribute option in the pop-up menu, and then select the desktop. Click custom desktop and select Web.

Here, select the Lock desktop items option. Then, click "OK. In this way, the text will disappear, but your desktop will become ugly.
