Is your computer shared with people? If so, you will be concerned about the security of your personal files, and if you are using the Windows XP operating system, you can use some of the simple and efficient settings provided by Windows XP to maintain your file security.
1, how to let XP automatic networking
ie--tool--internet Option--Connection, check "network does not exist when dialing", IE pull to "start" every time the boot is completed, you have been online! There is another way: access to the content, the "prompt name, password, voucher, etc." tick cancellation, and then pull the line to "start."
2, fast browsing the local area network sharing
Typically, when Windows XP connects to other computers, it checks all the scheduled tasks on the other computer, which allows you to wait 30 seconds or more. The removed method finds "Hkey_local_machinesoftwaremicrosoftwindowscurrent Versionexplorerremotecomputernamespace" from the registry.
Under this key value, there will be a {D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF} key, delete it, restart the computer, Windows XP will no longer check the scheduled task, the speed will be significantly improved.
3. Encrypt files and folders
Encrypting files and folders makes it impossible for unauthorized users to read the files and folders. To encrypt a file or folder in Windows, open Windows Explorer, right-click the file or folder you want to encrypt, select the Properties option, click the Advanced button on the General tab, and select the Encrypt content to protect data check box ( This operation applies only to the NTFS file system.
When you encrypt a folder, you are asked whether you want to encrypt all the files and subfolders within the folder at the same time. If you choose to do so, all files or subfolders within the folder that are currently and will be added in the future will be encrypted, and if you choose to encrypt only folders, the files and subfolders currently in the folder will not be encrypted. However, any future files and subfolders that are added to the folder will be encrypted when they are added. When encrypting a single file, the system will also ask if you want to encrypt the folder that contains it, and if you choose to do so, all files and subfolders that are added to the folder will be automatically encrypted.
Under this key value, there will be a {D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF} key, delete it, restart the computer, Windows XP will no longer check the scheduled task, the speed will be significantly improved.
4, improve the transmission rate of 10/100m network card
Select start → connect to → show all connections, double-click the connection used by the network card, click the Properties button, open the Properties dialog box, and select the Advanced tab. Select Link Speed/duplex mode in the properties column, and then change "Auto mode" to "Half mode" in the Set Value column.
In this way, manually 10/100m the properties of the Adaptive Network card to the 10M Half-duplex mode, so that the network card does not automatically negotiate between the network card in the transmission of data always at 10Mbps speed, greatly improve the transmission efficiency between the network. This setting is only valid for some network adapters.
5. Shared drive or folder settings
Using Windows XP makes it easy to set a drive or folder to share. Also, if you do not want these shared drives or folders to be seen by remote computer users, simply add a "$" to the shared drive or folder after "share name", such as "C $". However, when a remote computer user knows the computer name of the machine and the user name and password of the administrator, server operator, any remote computer user can access the computer through the local area network or the Internet, which in turn makes the computer with the shared drive or folder a security risk. To ensure the security of shared drives or folders, we should disable the Server service. When the server service is disabled, all remote computers will not be able to connect to any drive or folder on that computer, but the local administrator can still access shared folders on other computers. Disabling the Server service is done by entering control Panel-"performance and Maintenance"-"Administrative Tools", double-click the Services icon and double-click the server item in the Services window to see the dialog box shown in Figure 1, and select either Disabled or manual in the Startup type list.
6, solve the problem of WinXP execution time pause
Start--Network connection--local connection, press right button, select Properties, select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), click Properties, use the following IP address: 192.168.0.1, subnet mask: 255.255.255.0, so good, after the boot will not be stopped.
7. Make the folder a private folder
By default, all folders in Windows XP are open, that is, all users on the machine can use them, which undoubtedly poses significant personal data for some users. To do this, Windows XP adds a feature called folder Private, which means that in the NTFS file system, when a folder is set by the user to a private folder, that folder is available only to that user, and other users cannot use it after they log on to Windows XP. This provides convenience for the protection of important personal data. To make a folder dedicated, simply move the folder to the X:\Documents and Settings\ username \ folder (x refers to the partition where the Windows XP installation files are located), and then right-click the folder, select the Properties option, and on the Sharing tab, check the Make this folder personal so that only I can access the check box. This way, when another user logs on to Windows XP and wants to enter the folder, it will be prompted with an "access Denied" warning.
8. Speed up sharing
This is a great optimization, and before I find this optimization, I often knock on my scalp in a long wait window to display a shared directory on another machine.
Typically, when Windows XP connects to another computer, it checks all scheduled tasks on the other side-it's superfluous, and it's too bad that you wait 30 seconds.
Fortunately, it's easy to get rid of the process. First, find Hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windows/current Version\explorer\remotecomputer\namespace in the registry. In this case, there should be a {D6277990-4C6A-11CF-87-00AA0060F5BF} key. Just delete it, restart the computer, Windows will no longer check the scheduled task, the speed is significantly improved!
