Microsoft has yet to complete its new operating system announcements and launches. The company revealed later in Tuesday that it plans to launch several different versions of the Windows 8 embedded operating system, specifically for embedded hardware and systems. Microsoft's press release states that eligible businesses and users can download a preview version of the embedded Windows 8 standard version directly. The final version will be released in March 2013, along with the professional version of the embedded Windows 8 operating system.
The final version of the embedded Windows 8 operating system for industrial and handheld ports will be released in January. Finally, the compact Windows Embedded 2013 system will be scheduled for release in the second quarter of 2013.
"Partners and companies will benefit from many of the same features as Windows 8 – most notably, touch usage and gestures, which will bring a richer and more natural experience-professional equipment such as POS systems, medical equipment and automotive technology," Microsoft said. And, with the support of Visual Studio 2012, they can build an intelligent, seamless experience across a variety of platforms-from hardware to software and services-using existing investments. "
The press release added that Microsoft will release more details of the embedded Windows 8 car, which will be placed inside the car, later in 2013.
