Windows accesses Kylin via VNC

VNC (Virtual Network Computing) is a software for Remote Desktop control. The client's keyboard input and mouse actions are transmitted over the network to the remote server, controlling the operation of the server. The server's graphical interface is transmitted over the network to the client for display to the user. It is like operating the remote server directly in the same way as the local computer.

in the in Kylin,VNC consists of the following four commands:vncserver,vncviewer,vncpasswd, and vncconnect. In most cases, only two of these commands are required:vncserver and vncviewer, one is the VNC server and one is the VNC Client tool.

UltraVNC added part of the TightVNC program and enhanced graphic mapping driver, combined with activedirectory and NTLM account password authentication, but only Version of Windows . Here, we use UltraVNC as the Windows -side VNC tool.

Preparation: A system for Windows XP or WIN7 machines, a machine with a system of Kylin (both can be virtual machines or physical machines).

Objective: to remote access to Kylin via VNC on Windows systems .

1.   Kylinon the settingsVncserver

1, most Kylin version has installed vnc4server, if not installed, perform the following command installation in Terminal:

$ sudo apt-get install Vnc4server

2, set the current user VNC telnet Connection using the password. In terminal execution:

$vnc 4passwd

Enter a password as prompted.

Note: You can also omit this step for the first time in the next Vncserver requires a password of more than 6 characters for the current user to log on remotely.

3. Start vnc4server:

[Email protected]:~ $vnc 4server

New ' Kylin-os:3 (kylin) ' Desktop is Kylin-os:3

Startingapplications specified In/home/kylin/.vnc/xstartup

Log Fileis/home/kylin/.vnc/kylin-os:3.log

Note:kylin-os is the hostname, note the colon ":" After the number, here is "3". The first run of Vnc4server will prompt you to generate the Xstartup file, which has some configuration when you log on to start X in this file .

After you start the Vnc4server, a. VNC directory will be generated in your home directory .

at this point, you can link to the server via the VNC client.

Note: Start Vncserver, there are two waysto create an available vnc desktop.

Way ① Create a vnc desktop, the session number is automatically generated by Vncserver and executed at the terminal :

$ vnc4server

Way ② creates a VNC desktop with a specified session number , which executes at the terminal :

$VNC 4server:2 <--- create a desktop with a specified session number of 2, note the colon: preceded by a space.

4.If you want to close the desktop with session number 3 , execute it at the terminal :

$vnc 4server-kill:3

Based on the number of session numbers you get when you start, note the colon: preceded by a space.

2.     in theWindowsremote access on the systemKylin

1 . Download the VNC tool Ultravnc_1_2_11_x86_setup on the Windows machine, double click to perform the installation, next step.

2. Open ultravnc Viewer, fill in the Kylin IP address and the desktop PID you want to use,click Connect

3. Enter the password set in vnc4passwd in thepop-up Password box to Log in and start the Remote Desktop tour.

3.     Other Notes

1. Multi-Client Configuration

just run vnc4server multiple times, producing multiple desktop IDs for use by multiple clients.

Note:the Vnc4server startup session consumes a lot of system resources, and if you start more than one, the system response can become noticeably slower.

2,vnc4server set to boot from the boot

When the remote connection requirement is always present, the Vnc4server can be set to boot and connect directly when needed.

Add the Vnc4server command to the etc/profile .

3. Test Connection

when you need to connect Kylin the system's VNC service, you can use the following method on the server side to detect the connection is normal.

1.SSH-L5901:127.0.0.1:5901User name@IPaddress or URL

Note: The user name fills in the user name that is currently being used, such as Kylin. IP address fill in the IP address of the current server .

If you are prompted to continue the connection, enter Yes. After entering the password, you can log in successfully and prove the configuration is correct. Otherwise, you need to check if the firewall is open 5901 port.

4.Windows Client does not control

If you just want to watch a remote computer and don't want to control it, use the UltraVNC Viewer tick when logging in View only .
