First IPV6 Next generation wireless network built
The teachers and students of Beijing Jiaotong University are luckier than other netizens. More than 20,000 teachers and students each have an IP node resources, as long as the wireless network card or support Centrino notebook, mobile phone, in any area of the campus can obtain network signals, classes, self-study can be free access to the campus network resources anytime.
September 9, in Beijing Jiaotong University 110 Anniversary Day, officially opened the first in China based on IPV6 Next generation Campus wireless network. The network, developed by the school, has overcome the key new generation of network routing technology and security technology, filling the gap in this field at home and abroad.
The wireless network first uses IPV6 wireless router to compose more than 300 wireless coverage points, solves the problem of school information point flow and difficult wiring. After the wireless network is opened, the signal covers the whole school, and can break the limit of fixed position and quantity of the wired network node, and provides the application platform for the brand-new wireless multimedia. The opening of the wireless network has shown the charm of the next generation of Internet.
The next generation Internet tempting cake
Chinese Internet users have broken 120 million and become the world's second-largest Internet country, according to a report published by the National Network Research Institute.
With the development of computer, communication and network technology, the Internet plays an irreplaceable role in all areas of society with unprecedented depth and breadth, it is and will further profoundly affect all aspects of human society, bringing about the transformation of production, life, idea, thinking mode and even survival mode.
However, people enjoy the great convenience brought by the information society, but also for the lack of address space, bandwidth bottlenecks, network security, mobility support and other problems. Existing IPV4 network infrastructure and network services are difficult to meet the needs of Internet development, the management and operation of the network has become very complex. In order to better meet the challenge, it is necessary to build a larger, faster, safer and more convenient internet for the next generation.
In view of the increasingly obvious flaws in IPV4 technology, the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) began to research and develop next-generation IP protocols, IPV6 technology, from 1995 onwards. The next generation of Internet adoption of the IPV6 protocol, from 2 to 32 to 2 of the 128 times, some people describe the world every grain of sand will have an IP address. Its speed is faster, at least 100 trillion, 1000 times times higher than the current speed is normal. Some believe that the next generation of internet means the advent of a truly digital age.
As the core technology of the next Generation Internet, IPV6 has aroused wide attention from the world since its birth. Governments and research institutes around the world have launched the research and popularization of IPV6 and its technology: Japan and Europe have already built IPV6 commercial network; The Pentagon announced that it would upgrade its military network to IPV6 2008 years ago, and that China began implementing the IPV6 in late 2003. China's next Generation Internet demonstration Project (CNGI) ".
In the late 90, Beijing Jiaotong University set up the Institute of Information and network technology to closely track the development of IPV6 technology, and IPV6 router technology research, and set up a network management research center specializing in the next generation of Internet network management and operational technology research.
After years of technical accumulation and unremitting efforts, June 2000, Beijing Jiaotong University research and invented the domestic first IPV6 low-end router. September 2001, IPV6 router passed the IPV6 protocol consistency detection in the Institute of Computing Technology, CAS. January 2002, and through the identification of scientific and technological achievements, Chen Junliang academician for the team leader of the appraisal committee that "to fill the gap", marking the domestic ownership of intellectual property rights of IPV6 low-end routing technology research towards the mature stage.
