MDT Update 1 Preview Deployment Windows 10 's WDS Deployment service configuration

In this chapter, you configure the WDS server, and the only difference in the Getting Started tutorial is that this experiment is described in "Integrating with Active Directory."

1. Open the Windows Deployment Services server, right-click the server, select Configure server:

2. Open the Configuration Wizard to see if the configuration conditions are met, and select "Next" to continue:

3. Select "Integrate with Active Directory" and click "Next" to continue:

4. Select the location of the Remote installation folder and click "Next" to continue:

5, due to this environment DHCP on a machine, the default next continue:

6. PXE Server initial settings select "Respond to all client computers (known and unknown)":

7. Click Finish to complete the Configuration wizard.

First-time use may prompt the service not to respond to startup or control requests in a timely manner because the WDS deployment service is not turned on.

8. Right-click the MDT server to select All Tasks to start:

9. Successfully started Windows Deployment Services:

10. Set the client deployment startup setting to "users need to press F12 to continue PXE boot":

This completes the configuration of Windows Deployment Services, followed by a fix for the MDT Update 1 preview bug.
