The mobile device market is booming and various mobile devices are everywhere. Opportunities for mobile innovation are emerging. However, the existing devices and solutions are cumbersome and expensive, and cannot provide a rich browsing experience that users expect. The next generation of mobile internet devices will be characterized by fashion and low power, providing unparalleled Internet experience. Linux * has low resource usage, flexibility, low power consumption, and low cost. These features make it an inevitable choice for mobile Internet device operating systems.
Innovative mobile Internet community
Mobile & Internet Linux Project (http://moblin.org) is a new large open source project, committed to mobile and home appliance device Linux development. This project provides resources and frameworks for the community and:
L provides various tools to easily develop and deploy Linux stacks by using models and target devices
L focuses on optimizing memory usage, energy consumption, and developing innovative user interfaces
L provide isV with a platform for developing applications and ensure compatibility between cross-operating system vendors
L helps to integrate components of specific devices and interoperation between them
L as the source of information, technology sharing, ideas and opportunities
IntelMobile Internet device (Mid)
The mobile & Internet Linux project targets non-PC devices, such as Intel Mobile Internet devices (MID ). Mid is a representative of the new generation of small mobile appliance devices. It provides an unprecedented Internet experience and the ability to communicate with others, allowing you to continuously access information and enjoy entertainment.
The first generation of mid will be based on the menlow platform, which consists of the silverthorne processor and poulsbo chipset, which are specially designed for the next generation of devices. We hope that multiple system manufacturers can start menlow-based mid in the First Half. This mid platform will be used together with Linux * as a support OS for managing resource usage, better energy consumption management, flexibility, performance, and cost management.
Mobile Internet devices target the following models:
Access Information, content, and services. Any time. Any location.
Communicate via email, Im, chat room, and blog.
Provide continuous video, game, music, pictures or TV.
