One of the product design principles: streamline your product

This month, I was surprised to have been pulled by three customers or friends and asked me to help them design their products. All of these products are big and comprehensive portal websites. The features they requested include real estate, hotels, tourism, entertainment, catering, shops, dating, Weibo, cars, and second-hand cars ......, As long as it is related to any field of life. In the customer's words: As long as I do everything related to my life, my goal is to allow people to use my website and stay away from home. Let my website have all functions, so that people cannot leave me alone. My friends and customers are not big bosses of millions or big groups. They have just graduated college students and business owners with a slight profit in the traditional industry, but the overall characteristic is: limited funds. I tried to persuade them to find out some general principles of Product Design for start-ups.

As an entrepreneur, especially small entrepreneurs with limited financial strength. I am often confused about the design of my own products. I had a good idea to think about a product. Thinking about it, looking at other people's websites, I feel that this function is good, that function is also good, so I have a kind of desire to put all others, good functions, columns, I moved all over, and finally, the more I thought about the product, the more out of my control scope, and made a unique four. Not only did we not bury the original good ideas, but it also suffered huge economic losses. Therefore, for such entrepreneurs, there is a basic principle when planning their own products: streamlining your products, focusing on your financial resources, manpower, and energy to a point, focus on what you want to do and highlight this point. This is your product, and it is only your advantage. Because you focus your energy and financial resources on one point, it is easier for you to control the product and make it easier to do a good job. Even if the product fails, because it is very small, therefore, the loss is not great.

How can we concentrate on one point? The most important thing is to define your own goals. Determine what kind of product you want to make, and the reason you make this product is not that this product is absolutely promising and absolutely profitable. But within the scope of your capabilities, you can definitely do this product well. Space vessels and exploration of Mars are all very profitable industries, but can we do it? It is not a huge profit to raise pigs or farm land, but as long as it is done to the extreme, it can also be a small and rich party. So the key is whether you can do well. If you are always doing well in the future, you can have a future. When we have a clear goal, we should refer to similar products and other projects to see if there are any advantages that we can learn. This step is to add products, the purpose is to broaden your thinking. However, the addition must be limited to focus on its own purpose, rather than doing everything. When adding a product to a certain extent, we need to perform subtraction operations for the product, and cut down all the functions and columns that can be removed, so as to retain the unique and confident functions. By the time it cannot be reduced, it is the product you want to make.
