Windows Serve R2 Hyper-V new features: Sharing VHDX

According to my analysis, this feature may be the most outstanding component in the new version. Clustering has always been a complex issue in the virtual machine field, and many Hyper-V users have been confused about why we can't share VHDX? Well, now that Microsoft has provided us with this functionality, even better than we imagined. We don't even have to use iSCSI or FC Sans to do this. Today, you can directly VHDX in the way you want to share on the file server, which greatly simplifies the processing process and implementation requirements. So can we migrate virtual machine systems in real time? The answer is yes. Unfortunately, real-time migration of storage data is not possible at the moment.

Windows Serve R2 Hyper-V new features: real-time migration faster

Real-time migrations are critical to any administrator's day-to-day work, and in some cases this is even the determining factor in whether we can get off work on time and share a good time with a lover or friend. The real-time migration capabilities of Windows Server R2 usher in two major improvements. The first item is enabled by default and is based on compression technology. The way it works is to monitor the CPU usage of the host, and use it to compress virtual machine data if the CPU cycle is available. As a result, you can improve migration efficiency by transferring less data, and the real-time migration of a virtual machine is one-fold faster than it was before.

The second type of real-time migration acceleration is "ultra-high speed real-time migration"-which requires users to use new hardware to ensure its smooth entry into force. For this type of migration work, you need to have a network card that supports RDMA. The official name for this package is SMB Direct, which employs the SMB 3.0 (especially the SMB3.0 multi-channel functionality) technology, and ultimately brings us 10 times times the amazing migration speed we've ever had. Microsoft recommends SMB Direct if the user has a bandwidth of more than 10Gb per second, and if the bandwidth does not reach that level, it is best to use a compression scheme.

Windows Serve R2 Hyper-V new features: three-way sync

Speaking of the widely-welcomed features of Hyper-V, the replica feature is definitely available. Although in a few cases a set of replica data has been able to meet the user's needs, more users still want to be able to retain a set of business information locally and in addition to the replica. In some business environments, customers may need to copy a copy to another datacenter and keep one in a cloud environment. Windows Server R2 Hyper-V makes everyone's wish come true, helping businesses and service providers meet the higher requirements for replicas. It is believed that many large enterprise customers will warmly welcome the appearance of this feature.

Windows Serve R2 Hyper-V new features: virtual Machine direct connection

The realization of Remote Desktop services anytime and anywhere is another highlight of this architecture upgrade, and I personally appreciate it. I am always unable to abandon Terminal Services of the die-hards technology, and Hyper-V in the most I can not agree with the virtual machine console and desktop between the implementation of various types of copy and paste operation of the connection mechanism. I mean copy and paste from the Clipboard and direct file copy operations. In addition, Hyper-V also does not support USB, so its user experience is still flawed.

In the new R2 version, Microsoft has reconfigured the architecture to allow users to use Remote Desktop services at any time without involving a network connection. You may be surprised by this, after all, Remote Desktop services need to use the IP address and the appropriate network connection to take effect. In fact, the new technology uses virtual machine bus instead of the previous network connection, now our virtual machine console connection will be enabled by Remote Desktop Services to implement various kinds of copy and paste operation, file copy and USB support, and all this need not bother network connection. Really very thoughtful, praise!
