The advent of cloud computing has rewritten the technical rules that have accompanied us for decades, and in today's article we will review 10 of pioneers who have made outstanding contributions in this area, counting how they have brought cloud computing to everyone's side.

The Giants of cloud computing

In general, it is difficult to make a summary review while we are in the process of historical evolution. However, in the field of cloud computing, we have already accumulated enough background information, and are willing to give the praise to those respectable, single-handedly push this new computing model to build the pioneers.

The list is bound to be omitted, and there is no doubt that the position of the pioneers in the eyes of the different analysts is not the same. Behind the gorgeous stage of cloud computing, there are still a few contributors that we have just learned and even haven't learned. But I believe that history will not drown out brilliant achievements, perhaps in the next few years their results will be transformed into a bright star in the technical circle, and be admired and recited by countless later.

For IT managers considering or already deploying cloud computing projects, the list summarizes the evolution of cloud computing from the perspective of the recall pioneer, and anticipates what might happen in the future.

Of course, the pioneers of the list are also standing on the shoulders of other giants, even the Giants ' successors. Sun Microsystems, for example, did not appear on the list as an announcement system and the earliest cluster founders (in fact the company ceased to exist), and the successor, Google, Http://www.aliyun.com/zixun/aggregation /1560.html ">facebook, Microsoft and Rackspace are known as cloud computing pioneers.

However, the development of cloud computing and personal computing and customer-server computing convergence before the real climax. Amazon Web Services Simple Storage Service (S3) was only six years old, but Enterprise Compute Cloud (EC2) was followed by an ultra high popularity. The Google App project was launched in 2008, and Microsoft's Azure cloud Service test version was the only juniors to appear in 2009.

The cloud computing model appears to be less than 10 years, but as the "historian Chronicles" description, its debut will show the diversity, versatility, such as "The Emperor's phase", faint signs of a new era of arrival. I believe any cloud pioneer list will place Amazon's Werner Vogels at the top or at least close to the top. But as Chris Pinkham, who is not so often in the spotlight, the hero behind the new program architect and performer role is also worth remembering.

Even if we are in this era of creating heroes and creating stars, we still have to admit that grand projects such as cloud computing are not even created by one or two people. Generally speaking, cloud projects need to absorb a large group of enthusiastic technology to reach people, and often require each participant in the full view of open source code development--openstack, Eucalyptus, cloudstack and even open compute hardware projects are in this category.

But there are some very forward-looking bulls who can show support before the cloud model is established, even when the cloud concept is still under attack. At that time, they were the eyes of many people liar, demonized, but in fact they resist the pressure of public opinion, struggle, with their valuable faith and strength of the cloud computing era into our vision.

Let's start this time journey together and review the pioneers in the cloud computing field. Of course their rankings may continue to be debated, as the history of cloud computing has not stopped moving forward.

Werner Vogels

Werner Vogels, amazon, chief technology officer and Vice president of WEB Services, entered the Amazon company in 2004 as a system research director, all from a computer science paper he published at Cornell University in the United States. He had been involved in the study of computational Science in the Netherlands during his school days, at the time, he was a professor at the Free University of Amsterdam, who won the Turing Prize for his "in-depth study of database and transaction processes and groundbreaking technical contributions in the field of system implementation". During his stay at Liberty University, Vogels also met with the operating system standard textbook and author Andrew Tannenbaum of Minix system code, as well as Henri Bal, which has made a great contribution to large-scale parallel systems.

He was formally appointed as CTO of Amazon in 2005 and a vice president of the company later in the year. At that time he was in a great dream, hoping to build a new distributed system with cheap, civilian-grade accessories to achieve unlimited scalability and ensure that the overall facility is still functioning in the event of a single component failure-the origins of the Amazon Compute Cloud elasticity technology. As a manager, he urged Amazon to become the dominant enterprise in the Distributed Virtual Server computing system on the Internet, with a recommendation to use time billing. His personal active attitude and enthusiasm for the work of the Amazon company created the first "courage to go out" of the all-round CTO image. He was like an indefatigable preacher who spent all his time popularizing the advantages and features of the Amazon public cloud. It is because of his solid professional skills, a strong commitment and a good reputation to help Amazon Web services in the early days to lay the ideal audience base.
