A new interface for Windows 8

It is widely accepted that the new Windows 8 interface is not compatible with traditional desktop computers or notebooks. But that's just one side of Windows 8 Windows 8 Desktop also contains a lot of useful improvements.

If you are also a desktop user, you can browse and feel that these improvements will determine whether you should upgrade. If Microsoft does not remove the traditional Start menu and add a new interface, we might consider upgrading.

Start speed

Windows 8 uses new features to increase its startup speed. Some people find that the boot time on existing hardware is reduced by 30 to 15-20 seconds. Windows 8 introduces an ingenious feature--it saves the underlying software state, such as the system kernel and hardware drivers, to the hard disk and restores it directly to the next boot, replacing the usual shutdown. The new Windows 8 computer also uses UEFI technology to start faster than the original bios-style.

File copy

The Windows 8 File replication feature is significantly improved. The default interface is simple, but you can expand the dialog box to see more information, including a file transfer speed time chart.

Enhanced multi-monitor Support

For multi-monitor users, Windows 8 allows individual taskbar and wallpaper to be placed on each monitor. Previously, such functionality required Third-party software support.

Task Manager

The new task Manager has a huge boost. It highlights a startup software management feature that allows users to simply control whether the software boots up. Resource occupancy columns with different colors and more appropriate program names are easier to read at a glance. You can also view unknown processes by right-clicking and selecting the Online search option.

File Manager Promotion

Windows Explorer has changed a lot. For example, it is now called a file manager. Some users may not like the new Ribbon interface, but they do make it easier to access powerful options, such as not having to view hidden files directly through menus and dialog boxes. If you don't want to see the Ribbon interface, you can fold it up.

There are also intuitive improvements, including right-click mounting of ISO and VHD files without the need for Third-party software. The up button removed in Windows 7 also returns.

Storage space

Storage space is a superuser feature that allows you to combine multiple physical volumes into one logical volume. In other words, you can create multiple hard drives as a storage pool, and you can manipulate the storage pool as you would with the same hard disk.

Hyper V

Windows 8 includes Hyper-V capabilities that allow you to create virtual machines directly. Pre-V Applies to Windows Server systems to replace Windows virtual PC virtualization solutions and to implement Windows XP mode on Windows 7. For example, you can now install Ubuntu virtual machines directly without installing Third-party software.

Recovery and reset

Restoring the equipment to the factory state looks like a flat panel function, this is not true. You can create your own system mirroring to restore the system and quickly restore Windows 8 to a completely new installation state. You can save a lot of time when you reload the system.

Battery life

Low-level changes in the system, including the optimization of the life of more tablet and other portable computer batteries, are able to achieve a more efficient operating system and longer battery life. The removal of Aero effects also allows laptops to get longer battery life.

Security

Security has gained a lot of attention in Windows 8. Microsoft has finally integrated antivirus software, called Windows Defender, but renamed Microsoft Security Essentials. This ensures that even inexperienced Windows users can have anti-virus software, but you can easily disable the installation of other anti-virus products.

Secure boot (Secure boot) provides protection against the hidden program hijacking startup process, which, of course, requires a computer with a UEFI rather than a BIOS to support it. (On the Intel x86 computer, you can disable the security boot, or add your own key to the UEFI firmware to start it securely, so that a safe boot will not prevent you from installing Linux.) However, the security boot is used to lock the Windows RT pc based on ARM. )

Integrated Microsoft SmartScreen filtering technology can also help prevent inexperienced users from downloading and installing malware, and is alerted when they install software that is known to be bad or not seen.

There are some low-level changes, such as memory allocation and ASLR (address space Layout randomization), which makes it difficult to exploit security vulnerabilities even when a security vulnerability is found.
