A virtual machine deployment algorithm for reducing energy consumption in cloud environment

In order to reduce the energy consumption of large scale data center, a virtual Machine (VM) deployment algorithm TESA (Three-threshold Energy Saving algorithm) is proposed. The algorithm uses a linear relationship between power consumption and processing resource utilization, Migrate the virtual machines on the overloaded and overloaded hosts to a load-moderate host, while the virtual machines on the load normal host do not migrate. Then, based on Tesa, the selection strategy of four kinds of virtual machines is provided and the HLGP is selected from the experimental comparison (the highest and the lowest Potential substituting policy) as the best strategy.
