App Store application total breakthrough 250,000

Third-party site 148apps.biz statistics show that the total number of apps in Apple's App Store has broken the 250,000 mark. Data from another third party site, appshopper.com, shows that the App store in Apple's U.S. stores offers a total of 253,777 apps for Iphone,ipad and ipod touch downloads, including 24334 ipad-specific apps.

148apps.biz's statistics also show that, by category, downloadable book applications account for 17% of App Store applications, gaming applications accounted for 14% of the total, and entertainment applications accounted for 14% of total applications.
