Cisco buys cloud services company Metacloud to step up implementation of cloud network strategy

Beijing time September 17 Evening News, Cisco (25.2,-0.02,-0.06%) announced today, will buy California private holding cloud services company Metacloud. Cisco says Metacloud's OpenStack cloud platform will accelerate Cisco's strategy to build the world's largest interconnected cloud (Intercloud) network. The deal is expected to be completed in Cisco's first quarter of fiscal 2015. Upon completion of the transaction, the Metacloud staff will be transferred to the Cisco cloud infrastructure and manageable services (CIMS). Metacloud has been working on the OpenStack release for three years, bringing greater usability and visualization to OpenStack.
