Cloud computing Status: Private cloud is very hot

When an industry trend starts to flood, you hear the saying that salespeople are no longer talking about this trend. Several sources told me that these days, when a customer hears a marketing stunt with the word "cloud", they get furious and give the following nasty words: "If I hear the word ' cloud ' again from your mouth, I'll kill you," or something like that.

Ironically, while the Cloud's "signboard" is still faltering, cloud computing's ambiguous concept of technology and craftsmanship is more clear in the real world than ever before in reality.

We can look at the four different areas of the cloud in terms of heat ranking: The private cloud is very hot-and later we'll explain why it's so hot. A little bit of the heat is SaaS, which is almost entirely a public cloud service. Below are the services provided by public IaaS, such as Amazon.com and Rackspace, and finally the commercial PAAs environment for application development.

Let's start with the hottest private cloud.

The lure of a private cloud

You can say that all about the public cloud has been a few years ago, at that time, ciomen that Google's unlimited scalable, flexible infrastructure is the cloud. As a response, data center managers are patting their foreheads and grinding their teeth to explain that Google's infrastructure was built entirely for a single application, completely unsuitable for ordinary data centers.

At the same time, the proliferation of server virtualization is starting to form the basis of various private clouds. Virtualization combines the advantages of a substantial increase in the efficiency of hardware usage and rapid configuration, which has become an irresistible trend, and today almost half of the large and medium-sized enterprises are virtualizing the physical hosts into virtual machines. This is a huge shift from dedicated resources to pool resources.

When multiple applications run on a large number of virtual servers, the private cloud becomes the most effective way to manage these pooled resources. We need proprietary cloud software to help transform the hardware requirements of business applications into virtual machines, dynamically allocating computing and storage resources for a variety of applications, and accurately calculating benefits for the resources that are consumed. These are not trivial issues-if there is no software to solve these problems and automate the process, then manual maintenance of the shared infrastructure becomes an unbearable burden.

And under all this, the so-called fusion infrastructure could make the private cloud a perfect movement. Storage and data share the same high-bandwidth common network. Old, dedicated switches are integrated into programmable 10Gbps switches, and I/O functions can be arbitrarily cut and split. The large amount of equipment needed to run a data center is drastically reduced-not only to save hardware costs, but also to reduce management costs.

The very popular private cloud may not be what CIOs initially imagined, but it was greatly improved in efficiency and flexibility.

Regression of client/server mode

So far, it has been hard to find a company that has not subscribed to some kind of public cloud service or other types of cloud services. In dollar terms, a lot of money is still largely flowing to SaaS. If Microsoft were to offer such services, there would be more money flowing in.
