Portals and Enterprise end users are currently promoting the dynamic implementation of new, cost-per-million megabytes of public cloud and private cloud storage architectures. Storage requirements can be divided into 8 general usage patterns to optimize energy efficiency requirements at the lowest cost per million megabyte. These use patterns employ standard high shipments of compute and storage components, as well as standard and open source (in most cases) software. Intel is actively collaborating with portals, cloud service providers, and enterprise end users to define a rack-level reference Architecture for each usage pattern, ultimately optimizing the performance and cost objectives for each million megabyte.

Topics covered in this course include:
Performance and capacity tradeoffs for major cloud usage patterns and patterns
How usage patterns are aligned with major data center applications, including open source software and performance metrics for each usage pattern
Building a rack-level reference architecture with a converged storage server
Use Intel server products and storage (Intel Xeon processors) to reduce storage costs with intelligent computing
