Does the golden age of the public cloud come?

Private cloud is the right solution for many businesses that want to realize the value of cloud services but have not really entered the public cloud. In recent years, however, the public cloud has matured to become a better and more valuable architectural choice, and trends show that the enterprise's deployment model is now turning to a public cloud or a mixed cloud model.

Gartner's report also shows the trend, with most companies looking to adopt a public cloud and a hybrid cloud model in 2014 to achieve everything the private cloud can achieve. While the private cloud is a stable and viable architectural choice, it is now clearly overused. For businesses that want to control hardware and software, private clouds are a choice to help them stay away from the cloud. Although they say they own a cloud, the cloud may be similar to other systems in the datacenter. For example, the cost is the same, and may even be higher than the traditional system costs.

The public cloud does mature in recent years and has more time to prepare than most private clouds, and is truly golden. Of course, this model is also more cost-effective, in the fast time-to-market, business agility and scalability have their own unique advantages.

Amazon Web Services, Google, Microsoft, IBM are actively promoting the continuous development of the public cloud. These vendors offer public cloud services, and of course there are very pure private cloud providers on the market, such as the private cloud eucalyptus, which is compatible with AWS, and many private cloud vendors based on OpenStack.

Of course, this is not to say that the private cloud loses its momentum of development, but is speeding up like the public cloud. Both are evolving, and private clouds are a good architectural choice, and private clouds are needed in many instances. But the public cloud is also a reasonable choice, and in those scenarios that fit the public cloud, public clouds can offer more value than many private clouds.

But most businesses will eventually be tempted to use a hybrid cloud to achieve a full cloud deployment. Over the next 3-5 years, most cloud implementations are expected to be public, and most applications will run in a public cloud. Taking into account large-scale investments from public cloud providers, it is well known that last year, while Amazon entered China, IBM also announced that it was partnering with China's largest neutral IDC service Provider Century to sce+ IBM Cloud Computing Infrastructure Services (SmartCloud enterprise+) Formally introduced to China, IBM has also announced a grand announcement with the cloud computing services provider Capital Online Technology Co., Ltd. signed a long-term strategic cooperation agreement with the public cloud. And in most cases, the public cloud is a better architectural choice.

The IDC report showed 2013 Asian public cloud spending rose 50%, and the shift in Chinese corporate attitudes towards cloud services was obvious. User studies from China found that enterprise users showed a clear tendency to shift workloads from traditional to cloud mode, and that the internal deployment of private cloud and public cloud patterns was still a priority; but from 2013 to 2015 workload shift preferences, The user's preference for the managed cloud model increased by more than 12.5 times times.

The public cloud has always been a test ground for technology, and it has proven its own value to businesses that build their own private cloud. While some of the data mentioned above reflect the overall market state, there are still difficulties in moving key core applications to the public cloud, and for many other companies, the value proposition of full access to the public cloud is also a problem.
