EMC today announced a major upgrade to the Emcisilon Onefs, and unveiled a new Isilon platform and solution to strengthen the industry's first enterprise-level scale-out data lake. New products and features, including uninterrupted support for HDFs, will help customers significantly improve their ability to capture, store, protect, and manage large amounts of unstructured data. Using HDFS,EMC in the data lake allows customers to use Hadoop in a huge amount of data rather than using Hadoop in huge amounts of data, thus avoiding the time and cost of moving the data in petabytes.
The data lake is becoming more and more popular because it has a highly scalable repository that can accommodate a wide range of sources such as data generated from the traditional and new generation of workloads, and which can be handled using a variety of mechanisms and without having to deal with numerous independent repositories. The expansion of the data lake is a level higher than the existing one, all data can be connected to a single file system, as well as a single disk area of the data lake, now through the ability of Hadoop, Isilon data Lake has been ready to start analysis operations.
The new EMC Isilon software, hardware, and solutions enable customers to build an enterprise-level scale-out data lake and use EMC Isilon storage solutions and enterprise-class services such as data protection, data management, performance management, and security maintenance. At the heart of the data lake, EMC has rewritten the definition of Scale-out Nas, paired with Isilon software, providing double performance and dramatically surpassing the flexibility of previous generations by Isilon S210 and Isilon X410 two new EMC Onefs platforms.
EMC Isilon, with its near-unlimited scale, has been able to easily cope with the vast volumes of information in various industry petabyte levels, which generate a wealth of astute information that directly affects media and entertainment (press & Entertainment), Financial services ( Financial Services), as well as the profit performance of related industries such as Life Sciences (SCIENCES). The new EMC Isilon solutions work together to further enhance the size, efficiency, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness of each cluster in these demanding environments.
Other solutions produce many "islands" of storage, which are difficult and costly to manage, and generate a number of hotspots that are not only inefficient but also have low utilization of storage resources, and the procedures required for expansion are onerous. Isilon-built data lakes support a variety of protocols and access methods, such as NFS, SMB, NDMP, HDFS, and through the VIPR and OpenStack Swift Highland Biological parts of the object, not only to support the main directory and file sharing and other traditional workloads, but also to support analysis, Cloud applications, and mobile data synchronization and sharing of the next generation of workload.
New software and Platform
The EMC Isilon operating system onefs is the core building element for Isilon scale-out nas. The new version (Onefs 7.7.1) software includes the Smartflash, a fast-flash, which expands to 1 petabyte in a single cluster environment, allowing customers to get information faster. This result is achieved through optimal performance and ease of management, 100% Flash media efficiency, and reduced traditional and new generation workload delays.
In addition, EMC publishes Isilon S210 and X410. The Isilon S210 can reach 3.75 million IOPS per cluster and provides a flexible configuration and distribution that is suitable for highly tradable job-load industries such as media and entertainment as well as financial services. Isilon X410 increases throughput by 70%, reduces cost per unit Mbps by 33%, and easily supports Hadoop analysis, efficient computing, and enterprise file applications.
New Hadoop massive data analysis solution
In addition, today EMC and pivotal are publishing the new big Data Analytics Solution to enhance EMC's leadership in the Hadoop storage infrastructure industry. EMC leads the industry to become the first vendor to launch a scale-out NAS product, to integrate the HDFS analysis of huge amounts of data in a Highland model, and the first market leader to launch a corporate-sharing solution for HDFS. The solution is launched in the data Lake Hadoop suite, allowing users to quickly and easily gain powerful analytics capabilities and cost advantages of an efficient horizontal expansion platform.
In the relevant news, VCE today announced support for the VCE Ready certification with EMC Isilon for horizontally expanding VDI and Hadoop analysis.
Supply Schedule
EMC Isilon onefs 7.1.1 and S210 and X410 storage platforms, as well as all solutions, will be fully available in 3721.html ">2014 year July. The program to support the enhanced version of HDFs and the OpenStack SWIFT object agreement is expected to be launched by the end of 2014.
Analyst Testimony:
Terri McClure, senior analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group, said: "The pace of innovation in unstructured data storage has increased dramatically over the past five years." The scale-out architecture used to be considered an advanced technology, used only in efficient computing, but now is used in core data center operations and as a basis for our new scalable IT solutions. Now EMC and its next-generation Isilon offerings allow users to share across applications and maintain accessibility wherever they are. 」
Customer Testimonials:
Zoic UBM Technology Long Saker Klippsten said: ""EMC has been committed to push the limits of design, now the introduction of X410 and X210 platform, improve the efficiency and capacity of isilon, so that enterprises like us have ample space to intelligently expand. " Our testing limits for products usually go far beyond most industries, not only in terms of performance data, but also in the application of actual productivity. We, like our counterparts in the media and entertainment industry, have started to make 4K resolution programs, and 4K shows have a great impact on our infrastructure. In the face of the exponential increase in the volume of data, the market can let us trust and can afford to pay the information platform is not much choice, to bring us a reliable performance, in order to complete the project in time. Therefore, we choose Isilon, which is flexible enough to optimize for many different types of access patterns. 」
EMC Supervisor Testimonials:
Sam Grocott, vice president of EMC Isilon Product management and product marketing, said: "isilon horizontal expansion of the data lake is EMC's strategy to address the world's largest storage challenge in response to the large amount of unstructured data generated by traditional and new-generation applications. The new EMC Isilon software, platforms, and solutions are designed to help customers address these challenges and achieve faster results and lower costs. 」
