The first China cloud Computing conference was opened in June 2013 5-7th at the Beijing National Convention Center. The Conference, with an international perspective, insights into global cloud computing trends, and from the application, explore cloud computing and large data, cloud computing and mobile Internet, cloud security and cloud computing industry applications, such as the focus of the topic. In particular, the Conference has set up a cloud computing services display area, exchange the latest research results of international cloud computing, showcase domestic cloud computing pilot City development achievements, share cloud computing development experience, promote global cloud computing innovation cooperation.
Bernd Becker, chairman of the European Cloud Computing Alliance
Bernd Becker, chairman of the European Cloud Computing Alliance, brought a keynote address called "The beginning of the Information Age: cloud Computing-the accelerator of innovation", Becker that the standards of the information age are not yet in place, and that in the process of data processing, there are many challenges facing the cloud. During the speech Becker also pointed out that the development of industry needs a common standard, only in order to effectively protect the user's data security and the healthy development of the industry. Becker also revealed that the survey found that 18% of the network traffic is doing phishing and other cyber-crime activities.
The following is a live record:
Bernd Becker: Ladies and gentlemen, you are welcome to listen to me about cloud computing in Europe. The theme of the speech: "The information Age has just begun." We have said before that we are living in the information age, but we are just beginning to enter the information age.
About European Cloud Computing Alliance
The European Cloud Computing Alliance was set up a year or two ago, first of all, to simplify what our organization is concerned about. The agency, which has just been established for three years, covers more than 20 European countries and 9 other countries will join, and Russia has submitted applications to join us in addition to the EU countries.
Our aim is to bring you a clearer idea of cloud computing. Some customers in cloud computing may have heard of cloud or cloud computing, but are not quite sure what the benefits of cloud computing can bring to their business? I hope that through our Organization we can make people more aware of this.
Our aim is to promote growth in cloud computing and to promote innovation, not just at the national level, but beyond the EU and EU levels. Because the cloud crosses the boundaries of the country. Cloud computing is connected through the Internet and is a cloud-computing system that covers the world. Some of our work includes marketing and standardization, certification and the market for cloud acceptance of the work, we have recently started to support innovative enterprises, we also develop guidelines, industry and customers to launch a lot of guidance manuals. Cloud computing also introduces various aspects of the certification system.
We have some publications here, some of which have been translated into English, and we can buy them in the market this fall. These books can help small and medium enterprises to get a better understanding of cloud computing.
Now the European Parliament has made some progress in this area, and our Cloud computing alliance and the European Parliament, as well as the various governments have a lot of cooperation. And we've also got a lot of European cloud computing level awards.
Opportunities and challenges in computing
As we mentioned before, now the volume of data stored on the network is growing rapidly, as the report by IDC International Data Center shows that the data of 2020 will grow to 320ZB, and the traffic of broadband will increase by 30%, we have reason to believe that the data is revealing a message to us, The cloud will drive the change in the information industry, allowing it to enter a new latitude or an era.
At the same time, we also need to ask ourselves, what is behind the hands of the hands? What are the driving factors? Now we have a lot of video, and these videos and apps are generating a lot of data. At the same time, we have digital TV, but also one of the sources of data generation, which has led to the growth of data. Of course, there are some smart terminal devices used, let us find that the current production of data is very large. We can focus on the industry, yesterday and today, a lot of people are talking about big data, and we know that big data also needs to produce new methods in data processing. People talk about the smart city, the city of Intelligent city of course is closely related to the big data. In short, we need new information solutions in such environments.
We used the traditional computer deployment and architecture methods in the 60 and 70. Now the architecture seems to repeat history, with early--at least it looks alike, but in fact there has been a qualitative change, which means that the network is more integrated and more resilient and resource-sharing is higher. For example, we now have a lot of large data centers, each of which is equivalent to 88 football fields, which is a noteworthy issue.
Now, a lot of data related to large data, although not new technology, but in a new way to provide IT solutions and IT services, fundamentally changed our business model. Plug and Play, on demand, is very flexible. In this case there are many problems, such as a lot of illegal requests, there are some legal risks. At the same time, in the ITC, the development of information technology, we can also see the citizen's right to secrecy and privacy is also threatened.
Of course we know that with the popularity of the internet, some of the existing technology is not used, and found that many companies are doing overseas outsourcing business. In fact, the pattern now facing the cloud is completely different, and the administration should consider this issue well so as to find a workable model to solve the problem. One more thing is security. We know that in Germany, especially in many countries, everyone is very concerned about the safety of customer data. Some customers worry that their data is not safe enough and they ask us such questions. Is the cloud supplier able to guarantee our data security? We must answer the question. So there is a huge need for data security.
If we see that there is such a truth in all walks of life, it is necessary to achieve customer satisfaction. Can see a lot of logistics companies around the world, if we do not have unified transport and transport standards, it is impossible to achieve logistics development and prosperity. It's like we show the importance of standardization.
Of course ICT in this field also need to build the corresponding technical standards, as well as customer trust. This means that we need to build a better certification system. Otherwise, the customer will have no way to understand the supplier what kind of qualifications, whether he can provide customers with the required services. So the certification system is a Supplier qualification certification label.
It also can be seen that in the context of cloud computing has produced a new trend, or many directions. What we need to do now is to satisfy our customers. They now have their own partners, partners can be in any country in the world, the cloud can help customers do is to simplify their communication with the customer process. At the same time, customers need to communicate with their in-house employees, so the company can benefit if in-house employees can use it resources in a simpler way. And some of the company's customers and partners are not local, in other countries, so the company no matter where there are offices, they have built IT systems must be the same, so that customers can not feel the changes caused by the region.
Challenges encountered in practice
We sometimes have problems, like when new apps are released, customers need to get used to the new app. The customer's employees are very concerned about the function of the application, and how to use it to work? So on the user side, they also have their own needs. And the needs of the user are primarily the response of the company's IT department. I have mentioned the logistics before, this is an example, and I would also introduce some other examples.
Now a lot of areas that have nothing to do with information are starting to use information technology. For example, some processors, although hardware, have been embedded in the software. I believe the software is obsolete after five years and needs to be upgraded. But it is also a new requirement that you have to be able to achieve a reduction in energy consumption through upgrades.
Another is the question of education, which has talked about electronic education and cloud education before, which will greatly change the experience of children or employees in the process of learning.
Data Center challenges
You may not be able to understand exactly what the details and patterns are in the IT center. Because we know an IT company has a variety of different times cadres three different devices, these devices are all intertwined power cords, which will greatly affect the effective use of IT equipment.
For example, the server for example, some servers it is not efficient. If we can build cloud based data center, I think it will be able to achieve the industrialization of it changes. We can buy it structures in a very professional way, and at the same time cost less.
The risks that cyberspace faces
Some employees inside the company may be able to steal the company tightly, sometimes you may not use the U disk is not safe, there is a cyber attack. In fact, we found that 18% of the network traffic is doing phishing and other cyber-crime activities. We have to control this and take action. In this regard, I think we need to set global standards, which will ensure that no matter where the user visits, when to visit our network, his access to the environment is safe, we need the global network security standards.
At the same time, we know that for data storage, all data stored on the European continent must comply with EU standards, as required by our law. But we find that there are times when we have problems with the data center, such as the problem of log backups, and we urgently need to standardize. Now that our data center environment is shared, our responsibilities are shared. All element components in the data center must be able to work together, which proves that we need to have a unified safety standard or a security measure.
Standardization is beneficial to the stable development of the industry
The last point is also the most important point: the process, we see the traditional data center and modern data center running process is different. To tell you about the European Union's approach to cloud computing, by the year 2020 we believe cloud computing will generate jobs for 2.5 million, the EU is now experiencing the troubles of high unemployment, and the EU is in the midst of an economic crisis. We believe that the 2020 EU cloud computing aspects of employment will reach 2.5 million people, to achieve such a goal there is much work to be done. There was an EU conference in Luxembourg in 2012, at which the leaders proposed that we need to design a euro-wide cloud computing strategy. Raised a few questions, including the current cloud plan should we be passive to meet cloud computing or take the initiative to meet cloud computing?
