As new technologies such as cloud computing, large data, http://www.aliyun.com/zixun/aggregation/15579.html "> SSD", Fusion systems and automation become more sophisticated, the design and operation of data centers becomes more complex. In this context, companies need to consider their practices carefully in 2013 if they want to maximize the benefits of their data centers, market analyst IDC said. In particular, focus on cloud computing, large data, solid-state drives, fusion systems, and automation five elements.
Donna Taylor, IDC research director, said at the data Pew World Conference in London recently that the continued refinement of new technologies has improved the design level of the datacenter and made operations more complex. These include cloud computing, large data, solid-state drives, fusion systems, and automation technologies.
Cloud
The current public cloud, private cloud and hybrid cloud are increasingly being used across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and companies are less worried about cloud computing security than in previous years, IDC said. But Europe, the Middle East and Africa still have a long way to go to use the cloud less than America.
Large data
Some companies have not yet invested in big data, Taylor said. "We found that some people don't understand what big data means and they miss out on a huge opportunity." ”
However, in the European vertical capital markets, nearly half (44%) of the 1603 companies with Internet data centers believe that more capacity should be added to enable them to take advantage of large data.
Storage
The rise of solid-state drives can help data centers to fully develop their capabilities.
"This new type of storage will change the performance of the data center, but there are indications that a very small amount of SSD can replace a large number of disks in the datacenter, which can cause power cooling and space occupancy in the data center," Taylor said. ”
Fusion System
Optimizing the management of storage, servers, networks, and storage servers enables them to work together, a whole called a fusion system.
Last September IDC's converged system survey showed that more advanced and larger customers use aggregation systems to improve business agility and employee productivity.
Taylor said 21% of the 300 companies surveyed agreed to adopt the fusion system, which they have or will use in the next three years. "From the end-user's point of view, the converged system provides so much performance that it should be able to overcome any vendor lock-in issues." ”
Automation
Data centers are increasingly reliant on automation so they can put IT staff on more important tasks, Taylor said. She added: "They want to give their IT staff more space, so they can not only do the data center work efficiently, but more importantly, they will bring more revenue to the organization." ”
