Forrester: Enterprise Virtualization rate to promote cloud computing applications

In a recent survey of cloud computing in the Asia-Pacific region commissioned by VMware http://www.aliyun.com/zixun/aggregation/13534.html ">forrester, 42% Respondents said their companies already had a cloud computing plan, a 10% increase from last year and another 33% per cent of plans to implement the Cloud project. The survey has 6,500 senior it practitioners from the Asia-Pacific region.

Virtualization is often seen as the cornerstone of cloud computing, and virtualization has produced a number of interesting chemical reactions in the development of infrastructure. We find that 94% of companies have leveraged or planned to take advantage of virtualization, and 48% have virtualized more than half of their production applications, suggesting that the trend towards large-scale cloud computing applications is looming.

In the face of the advantages of cloud computing, the broad perception of the enterprise has not only been on the level of cost savings. Of those surveyed, 75% thought cloud computing could optimize existing IT management and automation capabilities; 70% said cloud computing could support a more mobile and flexible workforce; 73% means cloud computing can strengthen its business by simplifying access to IT resources.

In the middle of this year, TechTarget China conducted a survey on cloud computing security, and the main security issue remains data recovery/backup. Similar results were shown in the Forrester survey, with 69% per cent of respondents saying that the most concern was data privacy and the security of application development (64%). While the virtualization rate has reached a tipping point, the level of trust in cloud computing remains to be improved.

Not only that, cloud computing, as a new technology, requires IT staff with more comprehensive skills, and now, for any company that wants to take advantage of cloud computing, it's the people who have the relevant skills to advance cloud computing projects. In addition, for businesses that need to implement a private cloud, a relatively complete infrastructure is required. As a result, the private cloud is still the primary choice for many companies to test their water cloud.

For the enterprises that have already realized cloud computing, how to integrate with the existing system becomes the most concerned problem of many enterprises at present. 68% of respondents said cloud portability in different environments was the primary concern for their new cloud applications, while 67% focused on compatibility with new applications and existing applications. Over the next two years, a new generation of scalable PAAs will be based on an updated lightweight programming language that is used by non-traditional application middleware and is valuable for businesses looking to quickly create and modify applications. Portability between the public cloud and the test and application environments in the internal environment can also become very important.

Cloud computing flexibility for the vast number of manufacturers praise and publicity, then the customer will pay? 71% per cent said cloud computing reduced the complexity of its work, while 40% per cent of respondents described the ongoing change in their main business, which hampered the adoption of cloud computing. Specifically, in mainland China, 99% of businesses know about virtualization, and more than half say they will consider the virtualization of ten key business applications, 67% of which are virtualization technologies, and they consider letting end users access cloud-based applications and services via mobile device terminals.

In other Asia-Pacific regions, the values used in cloud computing have slightly changed, but the overall trend is that cloud computing has gradually matured, embraced by more companies, and is considering expanding its use in the future.
