At the recent high-level interactive summit in Chongqing's Cloud Expo, Ling, director of the Intel Industry Cooperation and Solutions division, China, is a perfect illustration of Intel's new blueprint for cloud computing and data centers.

In today's IT market, there are already 2 billion PCs or personal devices in the world. It is believed that by 2015, the personal computer will increase 600 million users, and the development of the Internet of things has started to flourish, all of which need to have large-scale data center, cloud computing technology to support. So, in the next few years, demand will be an explosive growth.

But at the moment, almost 80% of all it costs and budgets are used to maintain data, and only 20% of the budget is innovative, Ling says, because of the huge burden of past computing patterns that need change.

New patterns of application have been taking place throughout the market, there is a big difference compared to previous data, many of which are structured, relational data, and now the internet includes a lot of images, lots of text messages, lots of photos, all kinds of digital voice, etc., all of which are unstructured, And the size of the future is growing, how to store, analyze, tap its value, still need to use cloud computing. Ling that a large number of data centers will be the basic support structure of the entire cloud computing. The standardization of data centers, the simplicity of management, and the innovation of computing patterns will be the challenges that Intel will face in the future with a huge cloud and large data.

The computer goes from the traditional mainframe to the X86 structure, the server price is greatly reduced. From 2000 to the present, the storage architecture has changed dramatically, which will be the storage structure of the environment in the next few years to deal with the massive data explosion of cloud computing services. The choice of architecture will have a critical impact on the overall cost of the system, if you take apart a large data center, the core chip CPU and so on about the cost of the entire datacenter 2–5%, but there is this 2–5% related to the architecture of the choice, the end will affect more than its 20-50 times related costs , including heat dissipation, engine room, power supply and so on. Therefore, Ling that the choice of architecture will be a very, very important step in the standardization process.

Intel has worked on the architecture system for more than 30 years, from the past 45 nm gradually to 22 nm architecture, through the two legs continue to move forward, one is the improvement of the computing architecture, in addition to its overall manufacturing process improvement. 45, 32 nm to 22 nm is the improvement of the whole process conditions. The improvement of the process also resulted in the reduction of the overall power consumption, in the entire computing architecture, today we see the latest three-dimensional architecture of the transistor used in the latest chips, so that the chip density and effectiveness of a large increase in the future of the application of the data center and application development will have a critical impact.

For the future of cloud computing, Intel has a vision of a data center that is interoperable, automated, and potentially more client-aware cloud services. The so-called automatic, in this large-scale data center and cloud service, can automatically push its service, automatically to the cloud computing services, all the monitoring, service to users, and for managers and billing and so on, Ling explained that interoperability is also very important, cloud services will not be a service, There will be many services provided by cloud service providers. For end users, moving from one service provider to another, at the same time, in the end user mix cloud perspective, when the data centers of their own cloud services face a massive burst of service requirements, how can the use of Third-party services will be very intuitive and important. If it is an interoperability service, for end users, through the different cloud service providers can reduce its costs, improve its effectiveness.

The Open Data Center Alliance has been driving Intel's ongoing innovation in technology research and development. The end user of more than 100 data centers also includes China Life, the alliances of large companies such as Tencent, Baidu and Alibaba represent the vast volume of purchases in the industry, and their data requirements for cloud services, gathered like our technology suppliers, made demands on Intel's product equipment suppliers, Total beyond 10 million dollars in purchasing capacity. More than 100 are already in the Open Cloud Alliance.

Ling said Intel has a basic research center in Beijing and a research and development technology product team in Shanghai. All of these technologies and products will eventually be made available to end users by standardizing with their partners in the cloud-building program. Hope that through a leading, open mode of cooperation, can build an open interoperability, the interconnection of standardized, automated to end users can perceive the cloud services.
