HP announced today in its blog that it has launched a beta version of IaaS (http://www.aliyun.com/zixun/aggregation/13674.html "> Infrastructure as a service") to enter the cloud services market.

HP's cloud services currently comprise two components, HP cloud computing and HP Cloud object storage, which provide computing and storage resources through HP's data centers. HP uses open source cloud software OpenStack as the basis for cloud services.

In the testing phase, the user does not need to pay for the service, officially on the line, they adopt Pay-as mode, that is, the change of fees, the use of more to pay more, use less to pay.

Cloud storage services can be used to back up data, hold static Web content, or store large data sets, and through cloud computing, users can install virtual machines and use them on demand.

For these 2 services, users can be managed through a web interface or a rest based API.

HP did not disclose how their fees were going, or what time it was officially online, and it was certain that they had decided to join the competition in the Iaas sector, which now includes rivals like Amazon, Microsoft and Rackspace.

In a recent survey of 3,000 CIOs, IBM found that nearly 60% of CIOs were ready to introduce cloud services into their infrastructure, one times more than the survey of 2 years ago.

HP's advocacy target users include developers, independent software vendors, and businesses. Students interested in HP cloud services can click here to sign up for their website (free of charge).
