http://www.aliyun.com/zixun/aggregation/17197.html "> Beijing time March 28, Intel announced in Thursday that it had invested heavily in big data start-ups Cloudera, Reuters reported. The deal will make Intel the largest shareholder in Cloudera.
Intel said the stake in Cloudera was the largest data center technology investment in Intel's history, and that the equity investment would make it the largest single strategic shareholder in Cloudera. The chip giant is under agreement that Intel will receive a Cloudera board seat. It is widely expected that Cloudera will be listed this year.
The investment comes as Intel seeks to expand server services to offset the decline in PC sales. Intel says it will promote the Cloudera Hadoop platform and move from custom services to the Cloudera platform, making the latter the best solution for Intel's server chips.
Cloudera said last week that it had raised 160 million of dollars from Trowe Price, Google Ventures and other investors. Cloudera now has more than 1 billion dollars in valuations.
