Microsoft launches new Hadoop Azure large data Analysis Service

Just as Microsoft introduced Excel forms to the business world, Microsoft wants its new Windows Azure hdinsight service to leverage large data analysis.

"I think what we have been doing very well is solving difficult technical problems and simplifying them," said Eron Kelly, general manager of Microsoft Data platform

Windows Azure Hdinsight is provided as a Windows Azure platform service. This service provides an Apache Hadoop data processing platform and related tools. Hdinsight will use the Hortonworks-supplied Hadoop flagship release Hortonworks data Platform (HDP).


Microsoft is not the only company offering Hadoop cloud services. Amazon Web Services offers Hadoop and Rackspace programs and will soon launch HDP services. IBM's SoftLayer Host service also announced this week that it will soon provide the ability to quickly process Cloudera's Hadoop release on multiple bare-metal servers.


However, Microsoft hopes to simplify the deployment process and then use Hadoop to gain a competitive advantage in the growing field of data analysis.


For example, this service is compatible with Microsoft Data analysis tools. Excel form users can apply this form to a business intelligence function called Power BI to absorb, analyze, and visualize the data provided by the Hadoop MapReduce.


Microsoft announced the first time that the service was planned for 2011 years. Microsoft originally intended to work with Hortonworks to develop its own version of Hadoop. Microsoft plans to have its own version of Hadoop set up to run on a Windows server.


Microsoft has contributed 16,000 lines of code to the Open-source software project, Apache Hadoop and related software.


Windows Azure Hdinsight will run on a stock version HDP, allowing users to migrate workloads between Azure and other non-azure HDP deployments. After Hortonworks releases its next version of HDO, version 2.0 will be launched next month. Azure's HDP version will be upgraded automatically.


Microsoft has actually been running the Windows Azure hdinsight service for some selected customers in full production mode for two months.


Barcelona has used the service to analyze traffic patterns, garbage collection and data on other urban tasks, and hopes that this data will be used to make smarter spending decisions.

A group of researchers at
Virginia Polytechnic and State University are using the service to run genetic sequencing tools.


, vice president of Microsoft's Data platform division, Quentin Clark, will introduce more about Windows Azure hdinsight services in "O ' Reilly's Strata and Hadoop World" Conference in New York this week.
