As we all know, the current Windows Start button will open the Start menu at a click. The Start button in Windows 8.1 does not work this way, people familiar with the matter said. This is the biggest difference.

So how does it work?

As it sounds, the Windows 8.1 Start menu looks something like the Start button in the Windows 8 Charms menu: An angled Windows window (as shown below). It is turned on by default and can be turned off if you do not like the Start button.

In Windows 8.1, the New button is placed on the taskbar, where the Windows 7 Start button is now located.

When the user enters the Metro style, Windows store store, the new Start button is hidden and the new Start button appears only when the user moves the mouse to the bottom left. In Windows 8, a program thumbnail appears when the user moves the mouse to the left corner, and the Start button is replaced in 8.1.

The source also points out that the "all APPs" mode is added to the Start button to replace the heading mode.

In Windows 8, when the user points out the program bar and selects all Apps, you can also view the program in "All Apps" mode. According to previous reports, in Windows Blue, users can also open "all APPs" mode by sliding their fingers on the start screen.

If the user does not like the title mode, you can set the "all APPs" mode as the default mode. Browse in this mode, select the Start button will pop the start screen, there is a list of program icons, not the title list. Users can rearrange the icons according to their usage, and put the most commonly used in the first place.

The message person confirms that the direct logon to the desktop is also supported in the Windows Blue Milestone Preview version. In other words, when the PC tablet starts, the user can choose to go directly to the desktop mode and avoid the Metro start screen. Clicking on the Start button after entering this mode will still be able to enter the Metro style start screen.

There is another adjustment in the user interface that deserves attention. In Blue, users can use the same background in the Metro style Start screen and desktop mode. Microsoft is doing this to make the two environments more harmonious.
