September 2 US stock market is closed for Labor Day

Labor Day, the United States, is scheduled for the first Monday of September each year. Although the May 1 International Labour Day originated on May 1, 1886, the Chicago Workers general Strike, a large part of the world Labor Day of the country also chose on May 1, but the birthplace of the United States did not do so, mainly with 1886 years later in the U.S. domestic political situation.

May 4, 1886, Chicago workers in the Hay Market Square rally demonstrations, during which a bomb was thrown at the police, the police immediately opened fire, the chaos of 8 policemen killed, and civilian casualties, this is the so-called "hay market incident." In the aftermath of the incident, anarchists who organized workers ' rallies were sentenced to death by the government. Labour activists have railed against the injustice of Justice and have honored the dead anarchists as "martyrs" and commemorated them.

May 1, 1888, on the other side of the ocean in Paris, France, including the left-wing SPD, the union leader of the Second international announced a major strike to show solidarity with American workers. Since then, the second international decision has been held every May 1 to showcase labour force activities. This is the origin of the "51 Labor Day".

The American workers ' movement, however, was drifting away from the socialist movement, when American labor leaders were not keen to turn Labour into a socialist or communist movement.

In May 1894, when U.S. President Cleveland and his Democratic Party did not want to offend workers, Cleveland announced it would set up a national holiday "Labor Day" to pay tribute to workers. Neither Cleveland nor the Labour leaders wanted to set the Labor Day on May 1, which had been linked to the socialist movement and anarchism.

In fact, as early as September 4, 1882, New York worker leader McGill suggested that all the unions in New York should hold a grand march on the day to ask the management to improve their working conditions. A total of more than 20,000 New York workers marched that day. They held up the slogan "Labor creates everything," shouting "8 hours of work, 8 hours rest, 8 hours of entertainment," from New York City center.

Since then, New York workers have held similar parades every year in early September, and other urban workers in the United States have followed suit. This time with the U.S. government's demand hit, 1894 U.S. Congress voted to set the first Monday of September every year as the National Labor Day, the United States Labor Festival was established.
