Analysts expect total spending on the global IoT market to reach $500 billion trillion by 2020, including sales of hardware, software and services related to IoT. Research found that most companies put their main time costs on the analysis of the data obtained, and only 13% of enterprises use large data analysis to forecast the output and performance of the enterprise, while another 16% of enterprises use large data analysis results to improve the business process and revise the development strategy.
The findings also show that 73% of companies plan to devote more than 20% per cent of their total IT spending to large data analysis, with more than 20% of companies saying they are spending more than 30% per cent on the same area. 76% of the executives surveyed expect the investment to increase further in the future.
The survey found that 61% of aviation companies, 45% of wind companies and 42% of manufacturing companies are making big data analysis their top priority. 74% of companies say their major rivals are already using large data analysis to differentiate themselves from customers, the media and investors. 93% of companies say they have found that there are competitors in the industry that use large data analysis as their core differentiated competitive characteristics. Respondents generally believe that if they do not adopt a large data analysis method will face the biggest single risk is competitors to seize a large number of market share and their own gradually lose market influence and competitiveness.
According to the results of the survey, the three major tasks of the respondents were to increase profitability, expand their competitive advantage and improve their environmental protection capabilities, compared with 60%, 57% and 55% of the respondents.
Respondents also said the three most vexing challenges in large data analysis applications were: in the process of data collection and analysis, faced with obstacles, the implementation of large-scale data analysis in the face of security concerns, different data integration and storage difficulties encountered, the three major challenges in the surveyed enterprises accounted for 36% of the proportion , 35% and 29%.
