TechEd Private Cloud Experiment: SSP2.0 settings and Configuration

December 2, in TechEd2010 morning's hands-on Lab 2, Microsoft cloud computing expert Guo Zhiguang led the presence of technicians to carry out "private cloud SSP-2.0 Installation and configuration" hands-on experiments.

SSP Installation process

1.1 Introduction of Virtual machine environment

The computer configuration in the SPP experimental network is provided in the following table. The computers in the experiment are virtual machines built using Hyper-V. When you log on, press Ctrl+alt+end and log in using the credentials provided in the pilot list.

1.2 User accounts and groups

The following table provides the lab related user account configuration information:

User/Group name role User: Dcit SCVMM SSP 2.0 Administrator Portal Administrator. Approval of business sector and infrastructure requirements. Group: Sqlbuo Commercial user operators The members of this group are assigned lower privileges to complete some virtual machine operations. Group: Sqlcus Custom Business Units members of this group are assigned custom configuration permissions to complete virtual machine-related operations.

1.3 Prerequisites

SPP 2.0 is based on Hyper-V and SCVMM implementations. For best results in this experiment, level 300 is required for Hyper-V and SCVMM-related knowledge.

1.4 Scenes

SCVMM SSP 2.0 Hands-on labs unfold around the following scenarios.

A portion of Contoso's company provides DBAs for SQL Management services. The company's existing process of establishing a new server is slow, DBAs needs to contact the data Center administrator to create the server, which takes an irregular amount of time depending on the datacenter administrator priority. Installing the SCVMM SSP 2.0 portal at the company will provide on-demand self-service functionality for the SQL Management team (and others) without the need for direct interaction with the data Center administrator.

The SQL Management team wants to build two separate environments. A set of development, a set of user-convergence tests (UAT) that they want to build on a Windows 2008 R2 server, and a SQL 2008 Enterprise version of Contoso's license has been installed on Windows 2008 R2 servers.
