Over the past year or so, as operators in various countries have been upgrading their networks, the mobile Internet has developed rapidly and the penetration rate has continued to rise. From the world, because Japan and South Korea mobile communication industry is relatively developed, so the mobile internet penetration rate is also very high, other countries are relatively low. By the end of June 2009, Japan's mobile internet penetration rate of more than 80%, South Korea more than 60%, the United Kingdom mobile Internet penetration rate of 22%, the United States 19.5%, China more than 30%. Why is there such a big difference in development between different countries? Data show that the operators in the mobile Internet operating mode, service shape, target market, key services, such as four differences, but recently there has been a trend of convergence. Operating mode: Closed or open? Japanese and Korean operators in the mobile Internet operating mode is basically similar, are taking a relatively closed approach to the content/application of the industrial chain to carry out strong control. Japan's three major mobile operators DoCoMo, KDDI, SoftBank have their own content portal, is the user to use 3G business, access to mobile Internet, the main way. such as DoCoMo mode–compatible portal, KDDI ezweb portal, SoftBank Yahoo! Keitai portals. In the process of providing mobile internet services, Japanese operators are important content integrator. They use two policy divisions for content providers, the official and unofficial websites. The official website is written to the mobile phone menu provided by the operator. The operator's Service portal connects the official web site directly to the server, so the data on the official web site can be transmitted directly to the user's terminal without having to go through the backbone, but can also be transmitted through the backbone network. When users need to browse a Web page, if the official website can be directly accessed through the menu on the portal site, if the unofficial site users can enter the way by entering the URL, the two access modes, but access is provided by the operator. Most of the users through the mobile phone menu directly to the site, on the one hand, for easy operation, on the other hand, because the quality of the content more reliable, while charging more standardized. South Korea's operators play a similar role. The content provider is basically invisible behind the operator, and the operator offers a variety of services to end users. Operators operate mobile Internet portals themselves, but also participate in the production of some content, and gain, but generally do not enter the lower threshold of the information services market, its main focus is positioning, navigation, trading and other involved in a wide range of market, the threshold of high and related to the network of information services market. British operators have gone through the process of moving from a closed service model to an open service model. Before 2006, Vodafoneuk and other operators took mode–compatible mode. Because of the high proportion and the closed business model, the content provider's development space is very limited, which makes content providers more willing to develop data value-added services independently of operators. With the development pace of mobile Internet dayFaster, British mobile operators are aware of the need to break the original closed data business model. In the past two years, British mobile operators have taken an open mobile Internet business development strategy, and actively cooperate with well-known content providers. The US-facing mass market 3G started late, and operators have taken a similar approach to British operators. At the same time, the IPhone (mobile Internet) broke the original mode of the telecommunications industry, the operator has formed a greater impact, now the United States has emerged from the application platform to lead the market trend. Service form: WAP or Web? WAP has long been the mainstream type of online mobile internet service. Users through the WAP gateway to the wireless internet, operators through a closed door to provide ringtones, music, VOD, games, information services. But with the development of technology and the popularization of mobile Internet, web-based online service is becoming the trend of mobile internet in the world. Operators can achieve a consistent business experience on both the PC side and the mobile phone by implementing a full web browsing technology. In Japan, DoCoMo was the first operator to provide mobile internet services on a web-based basis. In the 2005, while many operators around the world were also developing WAP-based mobile internet services, DoCoMo's closed portal Mode–compatible had adopted a standard HTML Internet format. South Korean operators are currently providing WAP and web-enabled mobile Internet services, such as SK Telecom's Nate, KTF's Magic-n, LGT's ez-i and so on, while providing web browsing as well as WAP-style services. However, web-based Online services are becoming the mainstream of Korean mobile internet, and mobile operators are implementing web browsing technology to enable users to enjoy the same business experience on their PCs and mobile phones. Operators attach great importance to wireless and fixed Internet interoperability services, users on mobile phone use of mobile internet services, can be consistent with the traditional Internet service experience, including user interface, content and so on. Users can freely use the services provided by the wired Internet in a mobile environment, such as mobile search, mobile mail, mobile chat and mobile blog. As early as 2007, SK Telecom launched OpenWeb Business, the realization of the full web browsing. At present, the mobile community website of SK Telecom, mobile music portal, mobile instant communication and Nate Integrated Portal are all realized unlimited interoperability. In the UK, the representative 3G operators Vodafone and Yellow 3UK have adopted a strategy of extensive collaboration with traditional Internet service providers to introduce the traditional Internet hotspot applications to the mobile Internet, and they also tend to use the web to provide services, emphasizing the interoperability of the business between PC Internet and mobile internet. In addition to the online approach, national operators also through off-line client software to facilitate access to the network users. Users download and install the client software, you can not access the site to enjoy all kinds of services, such as news push, mobile search, mobile video, various financial services, games and so on. With the development of mobile widgets, the client software of various functions is endless, including standby screen, mobile games, email, chat tools, mobile financial services, LBS, video-on-demand, off-line magazines, news services, etc.
